If you've been following the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 tournament here on GGL, you'll know that we saw a big shakeup last week.
Unfortunately one of the server chimps in our server room slipped on a banana peel and reset the competition.
Oddly enough, many of the top teams from before the reset have risen close to the top of the heap again. That's good news, data loss notwithstanding. We'll make sure it never happens again, so here are your standings for this week:

While there are no new Xbox 360 or PS3 games this week, there is Demigod on the PC.
Some of you might be asking, "What's Demigod?" For those of you who don't know, Demigod takes the basic structure of the breakout Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients and attempts to distill it to perfection. Players can choose one of 8 demigods, each with their own unique play style and abilities, and throw them into an epic battle where they must turn the tides.
While there are currently eight demigods to choose from, Gas Powered Games has stated that it plans on ...

iPhone OS 3.0 includes in-game DLC, P2P multiplayer
Two interesting gaming tidbits from the iPhone OS preview event: In-game DLC and peer to peer multiplayer support over BlueTooth will arrive with the update due this summer.
The DLC feature allows iPhone developers to access iPhone OS prompts, letting you buy items or clothing. In the example given below from Engadget, the iPhone game Livefire shows off its ability to sell you a rocket launcher for $.99.
Whether or not the in-game DLC will sell is up to the market, but don't discount it just yet. While many hardcore gamers balk at the concept of DLC, the micropayment model of the ...
Solid Snake opens a movie studio
Okay, so it's not Solid Snake, but it is David Hayter, the voice and real life doppelganger of Solid Snake. Close enough.
Variety reports that Hayter (who co-wrote the X-Men and Watchmen movies, by the way) just founded Dark Hero Studios along with producer Benedict Carver. The studio focuses on action, horror, and sci-fi entertainment across several different mediums: Games, movies, and TV.
According to Carver, "David will create, write and direct movies and TV series for the company, but he'll also be a magnet for other writers and directors to work with us."
Currently, Snake--I mean Hayter--is working on werewolf thriller Slaughter's ...

RE5 is the seventh game in the Resident Evil series and picks up after Leon's adventures in RE4. Players will take control of Chris Redfield (or Sheva Alomar in co-op) as he travels to the made-up country of Kijuju in Africa to investigate/combat the spread of the parasites from RE4.
RE5 marks the first game in the RE series to be on current generation consoles. It is also the first RE game to feature co-op. Needless to say, expectations are high.

Valve’s Doug Lombardi has said there will be announcement about new downloadable content for Left 4 Dead by the end of the summer. Despite earlier criticism, Valve look like they are keeping their word with continued support in the form of more DLC for Left 4 Dead. Lombardi said: We plan to keep supporting Left 4 Dead. There will be some announcements coming before summer’s out about what’s coming there, and then we haven’t shown everything that’s in Left 4 Dead 2 yet. He added that the upcoming …
This weekend mark a big celebration here in the U.S.A., Independence Day. Each person has their own traditions when it comes to celebrating The 4th. Personally I’ll be spending my day blasting Springsteen, drinking beer, and setting off fireworks. The good folks over at Valve celebrate the country by offering Fallout 3 at half price.
That’s right, you can snag Fallout 3 on the PC for $25. So how about you do the truly patriotic thing and help clean the wasteland of raiders and super mutants. God knows, it’s the only way to get into DC this weekend.
Today DICE announced that Battlefield 1943 will hit Xbox Live Arcade on July 8. The PlayStation 3 version will be available on July 9. Both will cost $15 (1200 Microsoft Points). In celebration of this announcement, DICE released a new trailer introducing the map Guadalcanal.

As a tribute to the King of Pop, who tragically passed away last week, an enterprising Left 4 Dead modder has created a mod that replaces the game’s music with some of Michael Jackson’s most popular songs.

Do you often find yourself wishing you had your own personal Korean to teach you Starcraft? If so, you might want to check out this post on Craigslist.com.
ByunTae, a “100% full blooded Korean” who has “been gifted with unparallel talent to master any video game, particularly, Starcraft: Brood War,” is offering to teach San Francisco residents how to play Starcraft for $25 per hour. The only catch is you have to be an American. According to ByunTae’s post “My lessons are offered to only non-Koreans or American born Koreans because they lack the blessing from the Gaming God, Norazi.”
What will you get out of these lessions? ByunTae specificaly states, “My lessons will result in:
Faster APM (actions per minute)”, “Better Win/Loss Ratio”, a “chance to become a professional gamer in Korea - Celebrity status, especially for foreigners”, “Bragging rights”, “you will be called a hacker because you’re so good” and best of all “Korean girls will be intrigued that you’re such a good Starcraft player.”
I don’t know if this kid is joking or not. The amount of effort that went into the post suggests that he is serious. Hopefully someone will take ByunTae up on his offer and let the Internet know what exactly went down.

Yesterday Blizzard revealed that it is preparing “a new service” which will allow World of Warcraft players to change their faction. This means you could turn your Orc hunter into a Human hunter, and vice versa.
According to a post on the official World of Warcraft forums by a Blizzard employee, “We wanted to give everyone a very early heads-up that, in response to player requests, we’re developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance. There’s still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm. Players who ended up creating and leveling up characters on the opposite factions from their friends have been asking for this type of functionality for some time, and we’re pleased to be getting closer to being able to deliver it. Today 2K Sports revealed the 10th Anniversary edition of NBA 2K10, and let me tell you, it is ridiculous.
Costing $99.99, the special edition comes with an exclusive Kobe Bryant action figure, a Kobe Bryant poster, a documentary about the NBA 2K series, and access to the “Gold Room,” a VIP online lobby. The package itself is a miniature locker, designed to hold 20 games.
As a Cleveland native and a die hard Cavs fan, I wish this Anniversary edition came with a Lebron action figure instead. Oh well, there’s always next season.
The next upcoming sequel in the Hitman video game series will be released in late 2010, and its plot will tie in with the same-titled movie sequel, Variety reports. The news of comes by way of film distributor Twentieth Century Fox, who revealed that the Hitman 2 movie will “contain story elements from Hitman 5,” a game due to be released in “late 2010,” for yet unannounced platforms. The major American studio did not go into any more details concerning the upcoming game, but it did confirm that …
