New id game is ‘fast action’ but ‘not Doom 3′

With QuakeCon right around the corner, id Software’s already started whispering about its new Tech 5 title.

Speaking to Shacknews, id creative director Kevin Cloud confirmed that the new title is a fast action game, but gamers may be surprised about the gameplay.

“It’s not Doom or Wolfenstein or Enemy Territory…We’re still going to be first-person shooters and in-your-face immersive action, but yes it’s not, you know, Doom 3,” said Cloud.

Thank god. This time I won’t have to club zombies with a flashlight because my guns don’t have attached flashlights.

Perhaps they’re planning to take a page out of Gears of War’s book. “I think there’s a lot of interest internally about co-operative gameplay. That’s something that’s interesting,” added Cloud.
