GGL’s Michal “Carmac” Blicharz has interviewed Bas Peeperkorn, the manager of Serious Gaming. The topics of the conversation are the hardships of an aspiring gaming team, the elite G7 group, working with event organizers and Maciej “Av3k” Krzykowski’s knowledge of the Red Light District in Amsterdam.
Serious Gaming is one of the less fashionable teams out there, but this is not to say it is a weak one. The Dutch organization has got a world class Call of Duty 2 team, a decent Warcraft 3 team and, of course, Quake 4 champion Av3k within its ranks. All this thanks to an ex-hotel owner from The Netherlands, Bas Peeperkorn, who keeps the team together.
Bas invests money into young and aspiring players, before they achieve stardom. One such player was, of course, Av3k. Despite Av3k’s lack of experience in professional tournaments, Serious Gaming sent him to LANs in The Netherlands, Norway and the U.S. Not eligible to attend yet, Av3k was even flown to the Electronic Sports World Cup in Paris, France, just so he would see what a real gaming event looks like.
Today, the Polish gamer is one of the best in the world. More teenage youngsters, especially in Serious Gaming’s Warcraft 3 team, are waiting to go through the same path.
