The big news in competitive World of Warcraft lately has been the “purchase” of the American Insurrection team by the famous European team Fnatic.

While smaller teams try to scout and sign talented players when a new game enters the professional esports circuit, the moguls sit back and go shopping after a few events. They pay more but they know what they are buying.

Fnatic have bought the second best American team, ranked third in the World Series of Video Games. Insurrection placed second at the WSVG Louisville and Dallas tournaments, both times behind team Pandemic.

Fnatic’s initial stab at WoW was with their ex-PainKiller players, Sander “Vo0″ Kaasjager and Alexander “Ztrider” Ingarv. Those two had already spent excessive amounts of time practicing WoW during their… PainKiller bootcamps (little did they know that WoW would become a competitive game). The third player was James “2GD” Harding, Fnatic’s Quake 4 player.

Their second was with 2GD’s Scandinavian team-mates, but the results were not groundbreaking either. 2GD will now be the manager of Fnatic’s World of Warcraft and Quake 4 teams. The new lineup will mostly focus on 2v2 and 5v5 competitions.

Fnatic’s new players are:

Amine “Uthgar” Issa (Warrior, Paladin)
Scott “Nad” Asher (Priest, Paladin)
Kyle “Azure” Holroyd (Mage)
Jason “Agnos” Webber (Warlock)
Brian “Caal” McPharlin (Druid, Priest, Warrior)
Richard “Ravor” Smith (Warrior, Rogue)
