One of the best Counter-Strike teams in the world, the Made in Brazil team, has undergone dramatic mood swings in recent hours. Roster changes have been made as Lincoln “fnx” Lau, one of MiBR’s players, did not board the plane to the WEG e-Stars event in Seoul, Korea. One player has managed to deliver enough drama to fill at least a week of CS coverage.
MiBR were one of the four Counter-Strike teams invited to the event, alongside the Swedish team Fnatic, the Korean eSTRO and x7-Hacker from China. Much to the management’s surprise, fnx did not show up at the airport and refused to join the team on his own without giving a valid reason.
For this he was removed from the team and the name of the man that will replace him is already known. The youngster Olavo “Chucky” Napoleao (formerly GameCrashers and g3nerationX) will represent MiBR in the future, but not at e-Stars. At the same time, fnx has already signed with g3x to replace… Chucky.
The event kicks off tomorrow, so fnx’s desertion left the team in a very difficult situation, since the only replacement that seemed to be there was Francisco “Emperor” Aquino, the team’s technical manager and an amateur Counter-Strike player at best.
In a bizzarre turn of events, none other than the Norwegian CS celebrity Jonas “bESEL” Alsaker Vikan came out of retirement to help MiBR. bESEL has not played Counter-Strike for a while (most recently for Catch-Gamer), but he is attending e-Stars as a reporter for Gotfrag.
The addition of the Norwegian boosts MiBR’s chances from hopeless to rather good, since eSTRO and x7-Hacker should now be within MiBR’s reach. Fnatic will still be a long shot, but maybe the fact that bESEL actually played for MiBR in 2003 will work in the Brazilians’ favor.
