Choi “IloveOOv” Yun Sung, the World Cyber Games 2006 champion for StarCraft, was knocked out of the 2007 WCG qualifier today by Park “Much” Yeong Min in the top 16 stage. The champion of last weekend’s WEG e-Stars 2007 tournament, Lee “Jaedong” Jae Dong, will not live to see the quarterfinal as well.
Major champions knocked out this early would have been a story elsewhere, but not in Korea. Better players (arguably) are still in the qualifier and the level of play is generally so high that no result between top 16 players will be considered a huge upset.
Today’s matches ended with 2-0 victories for the “underdogs.” Here is the list of games in WCG Korea for this week:
