Bisu, Midas out of WCG Korea

The legendary Kim “Bisu” Taek Yong and the World Cyber Games 2006 bronze medalist Jun “Midas” Sang Wook will not be going to the U.S. consulate in Korea any time soon. They were knocked out of the WCG qualifier for StarCraft today and will not be going to the finals in Seattle.

Tuesday was the second day of the WCG Korea top 16 stage. Two matches took place: Bisu lost to MBCGame HERO teammate Lee “Light” Jae Ho 1-2 after taking the lead in maps. Midas lost to Yoon “Free” Yong Tae, also 1-2.

Only Park “JulyZerg” Sung Joon is left standing out of the players that represented South Korea at the WCG finals in Monza, Italy. Monday was a bad day for WCG champion Choi “IloveOOv” Yun Sung who was knocked out as well.

There are four matches remaining in the qualifier — they will be played on Wednesday and Thursday. Here is the list of games in the top 16 stage:

Monday:
IloveOOv 0 - 2 Much
JulyZerg 2 - 0 JaeDong

Tuesday:
Bisu 1 - 2 Light
Midas 1 - 2 Free

Wednesday:
NaDa vs Sea, sAviOr vs Yellow[ArnC]

Thursday:
Hwasin vs Nal_Ra, Stork vs AnyTime

With Bisu knocked out of the preliminary, the favorite of the qualifier is Ma “sAviOr” Jae Yoon. He has been almost invincible lately and only Bisu had his number.

Wednesday will also see the decisive matches in the Warcraft 3 qualifier with Jang “Spirit Moon” JaeHo playing Jang “WhO” Du Sub and Lee “SoJu” Seong Deok playing June “Lyn” Park for tickets to Seattle.
