Court to Simpson: No videogame profits for you

Orenthal James Simpson will collect no profit from the use of his likeness in a videogame, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled last week.

“O.J.” Simpson, lookin’ old

Simpson appears as a “former football great” in 2K Sports’ All-Pro Football 2K8 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game, which simulates 240 retired NFL players participating in a fictional league, was released July 16.In1997 a civil jury found Simpson liable for the wrongful death of Ronald Goldman. Simpson owes Goldman’s family $38 million as part of that lawsuit. Simpson’s pension is protected by law; but all other income must be turned over to the Goldman estate.

Goldman estate attorney David Cook accused Simpson of profiting from his public persona.
