Hezbollah, the Lebanese political and paramilitary organization, today released a videogame where players battle against the Israeli Army.
Special Force 2 sees players take the part of a Hezbollah guerilla during last year’s Israeli / Lebanese conflict. It wasn’t exactly lighthearted stuff, with Hezbollah capturing two Israeli soldiers, followed by a 34-day period of bombing, shelling, and counter-shelling.Created by a volunteer group, the game costs about $10.
Instead of total run-n-gun gameplay, Special Force 2 purportedly requires gamers to allocate resources wisely, as Hezbollah historically has had to scrounge for weapons and personnel.
“The features which are the secret of resistance’s victory in the south have moved to this game so that the child can understand that fighting the enemy does not only require the gun.
“It requires readiness, supplies, armament, attentiveness, tactics,” said Sheikh Ali Daher, Hezbollah media official.
