The Korean World Cyber Games qualifier is over. Three formidable StarCraft players will be looking to emulate last year’s feat of IloveOOv, JulyZerg and Midas taking all three medals.
The strongest country in the world in the realm of RTS games will field one of the scariest lineup of players in history if you look at StarCraft and Warcraft 3 combined.
The WC3 squad of Spirit Moon, Lyn and SoJu is the strongest in years.
In StarCraft, the players to represent Korea are all from the top 5 of the latest KeSPA (Korean eSports Players Association) ranking. sAviOr, the ranking’s leader and the best Zerg player in the world, qualified from third place. Hwasin, the winner of the qualifier currently holds the 5th spot in the ranking and Stork, the qualifier’s runner up is 3rd.
It can be argued, though fans of certain players will definitely protest, that those three are the best players in their respective races today. Given the fact that the competition for StarCraft hardly gets stronger everywhere else in the world, three medals for Korea are not that unlikely this year.
For Counter-Strike, the team that qualified is eSTRO, currently the very best squad in Korea.
Team Korea for the WCG finals:
Warcraft 3:
1) Moon
2) Lyn
3) SoJu
StarCraft:
1) HwaSin
2) Stork
3) sAviOr
FIFA 07:
1) westlove
2) carlos111
Counter-Strike 1.6:
1) eSTRO

Heh. Cmon man… You mentioned RTS games but you didn’t even comment on an RTS game koreans aren’t even close to the best at. Command and Conquer 3 is not going to be won by a Korean at WCG this year.
Their AoE3:TWC player, iamgrunt, is also the number 1 ranked player in the world (and has been forever) for AoE3. =)
Heh Khufu remember no one cares about us….
