WCG qualifiers over in Ukraine, Brazil, Sweden

The list of top names qualified for the World Cyber Games has grown longer this weekend. The top favorites to have qualified for the finals are Fnatic (CS 1.6) and Kim “SaSe” Hammar (WC3) from Sweden and Mykhaylo “HoT” Novopashyn (WC3) from Ukraine. The big surprise of the weekend is that g3nerationX and not Made in Brazil will represent Brazil at the finals for Counter-Strike.

Sweden had a very strong lineup of CS teams fighting for just one spot. Big names like the Samsung Euro Championship (WCG Europe) winners SK Gaming and the WCG 2006 runners up Ninjas in Pyjamas have to stay home because Fnatic is an even stronger team at the moment. Arguably, maybe the strongest in the world. They defeated NiP 2-0 in the final.

Among the top teams that will stay home is the South American powerhouse Made in Brazil. They were beaten by g3x, their biggest rival in Brazil. It looks like their recent trade of players was actually in favor of g3x.

For Warcraft 3, SaSe and HoT will definitely be among the most dangerous European players at the world finals, rightfully solidifying their positions as the best in their countries. In the final, SaSe beat another known Swedish player LiiLD 2-0 in maps. The big surprise in Brazil was that the well-known player PaTo only took third place and will be doing no-where.
