Games Convention 2007: Far Cry 2 interview
GGL Wire sat down with Ubisoft to talk about their FPS game Far Cry 2, one of the more interesting games we have seen at Games Convention in Leipzig. Far Cry 2 is certainly the most beautiful one - and yes, we have seen Crysis too. Here is the interview (a write-up on the game will come too, eventually):

Wow, is the first thing that comes to mind. This guy knows gaming. I hear too many interviews from scrubs that don’t know anything about anything. Of course this is a care bear game, but I am intrigued by a seamless environment like an RPG.

I also like unpredictable zone based behavioral NPCs. It reminds me of MUDs where it was impossible to tell where a mob would be, but you know he’s there.

This is the kinda guy that I’d like to get on Critical Hit along with somebody like Kyle Peshel from TimeShift. That no bullshit attitude that they are not there for the inverters, or really even for the gamers. They are there for themselves and to advance the gaming experience.

One concern I do have is if fire does propagate, and the world is in a seamless environment; how do you keep the player from burning the whole game space? Also how quickly does the game regenerate, if at all?

Cool guy. Nice interview. The tech sounds very similar to Crysis. I’m curious to see if a quad core CPU will greatly benefit from this engine because I’ll be upgrading from my three year old PC later this year.
