It has been revealed that the Netherlands won’t ban an uncut version of Manhunt 2, unlike other countries that require the nerfed family-friendly remix, if Rockstar decides to publish the game in Europe. As you may remember, Manhunt 2 was cut down to receive M-rated status in North America and the UK.
Dutch gamers can get the uncut version because there’s no way to ban it under Dutch law. Although the material may be offensive to some, it contains nothing illegal. There’s also no country-wide ratings board in NL to ban the game in the first place.
Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin said in a letter to parliament: “The current law is based on the principle that every adult is considered capable of deciding for himself which games he wants to play, unless it contains illegal material.”
Racist material and child pornography are illegal under Dutch law, but gory killings are not.

The guys name is Ballin. Nuff’ said
But what about Sony and Nintendo refusing to license the content for play on their system?
great question, Khonsu. you exposed a misleading statement in my original writeup. the game won’t be banned in NL if it is even published in Europe at all. because there’s no publishing taking place, the Sony/Nintendo question didn’t come up.
the post has been changed to more accurately describe the situation.
hehe highlander :P
well I suppose the 18+ rating should be enough? Banning it like in other countries seems rtrdd to me. how can you ban this game from adults, theres many movies out there more groce than manhunt… I dont really care since Im dutch besides I dont intend to play it, but still think its ridiculous.
WTS uncensored versions of Manhunt!;p
But I agree with the statement of the minister. Why the hell would you ban it if it has an 18+ rating. Parents should stop being ignorant and watch the rating.
