djWheat reports from China!

Marcus “djWHEAT” Graham of Epileptic Gaming fame updated his blog recently about his visit to Chengdu, China for the International Digital Electronics Week. djWHEAT is there until Sept. 14, covering, among other things, the GGL/iCoke tournament, which will send its winners to the DigitalLife $100,000 Pro/Am. Here’s an excerpt:

I did get a chance to see the GGL China offices… Oh? You didn’t know that GGL had an office in China? It does! WE ARE GLOBAL GAMING AFTER ALL!!! Not only that but GGL in China is very well respected, and it’s amazing to see our branding throughout the city. Although they don’t have as big of an office as we do here, I would suspect that real estate is a bit tough to come by out here! After a quick visit to the office, we got a chance to go see where I will be commentating this weekend. It happens to be the same place where the Women’s International Ping Pong Competition will be held later this month. The place is huge, and the unbelievable part about it is it will be COMPLETELY filled tomorrow with rabid gaming fans just waiting to see their favorite Warcraft 3 player battle it out on stage. I really cannot wait to see this place fill up… China is becoming more and more like Korea in terms of Gaming Culture every single day.

Since I had a little bit of time, I decided to check out @WORLD, which happens to be CONNECTED to the GGL China Office. This place is a 5 story tech mart that is basically a geek’s wet dream. You want it… they’ve got it. TVs, Computers, Games, Phones, Cameras, DVD Players, just imagine a one stop shop for all things technology. It’s like a Best Buy or Fry’s but on CRACK. And as you could guess, the prices are ridiculously cheap… and why not, they make most of this stuff over here anyway!
