SK Gaming has won the Swedish Extreme Masters II qualifier for Counter-Strike 1.6 to regain supremacy at home for the first time in long months. They did this by demolishing Fnatic on de_nuke 16:5 (25:5). This result looks like it could be the beginning of a new, fascinating rivalry.

For a team only about a month old, the new SK Gaming lineup is doing very well. They finished second (behind Fnatic) at the Extreme Masters II invitational tournament in Los Angeles and won the Kode5 qualifier in Holland […]

Korea leads the World Cyber Games nations ranking, ahead of Germany and USA. Sweden, traditionally viewed as one of the strongest nations in gaming, is 14th.

The WCG ranking is determined by the results from the Grand Finals and WCG continental championships from the last six years, with the most recent results having the greatest influence on the ranking.

Korea leads by a safe margin of 54 points over Germany thanks to its consistency over the years and their StarCraft professionals. USA is still third (the same as last year) despite winning the WCG medal tally […]

Jackson’s Halo movie back from the dead

Master Chief LIVES!Microsoft and director Peter Jackson are back in preproduction on the previously-canceled Halo movie.

The search is on for new financing and production partners after Fox and Universal soured the deal. Director Neill Blomkamp declared the project “entirely dead” last last month.

Jackson spokesperson Ken Kamins:
What happened was this: Universal, on behalf of both studios, asked for a meeting with the filmmakers just prior to the due date of a significant payment. Basically, they said that in order to move forward with the film, the filmmakers had to significantly reduce their […]

The last great hope for FPS dueling e-sports (just kidding, every new game is the last great hope) has gone gold. Unreal Tournament 3 (PC) is slated to hit store shelves Nov. 19 for $49.99.

Epic promised the PlayStation 3 port will follow “soon.”

UT3 features a plethora of maps and gametypes while the movement, weapons and physics appear to have gone back to the series’ roots. A  number of community tournaments have already been announced or taken place for the beta demo, with more to undoubtedly follow.

A couple of hilarious video reviews of Call of Duty 4 have popped up on the ‘net, showcasing heads of state Kim Jong Il and Vladimir Putin giving their impressions of the game.

Naturally, it’s all marketing, but at least a little bit clever. Check it.
