It’s official. Perpetual Entertainment’s troubled historical-fantasy MMORPG Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising is on “indefinite hold,” which industry-watchers understand to mean “canceled.”
Sony Online Entertainment was on board as publisher.
Recently the dev team was downsized and the August release date pushed back. Now all but a handful of the developers have been fired.
Perpetual is also working in the highly-anticipated Star Trek Online. According to F13, STO may be spun off to a new company. But the failure of a major title just before launch must be a major blow to San Francisco-based Perpetual.
STO is currently slated for a 2009 launch.
