The International Electronic Sports Tournament 2007 in Beijing finished this weekend, but not before some Korean StarCraft players came under suspicion for rigging the tournament.
Rising star Hwasin (Terran) took home the grand prize of $32,000 after defeating his teammate Calm (Zerg); however, many fans who were watching the VODs claimed that Calm and Hwasin exchanged strategies in the lobby ahead of time.
Even if the players know each other’s strategies going into the game, the winner isn’t automatically determined. Execution still plays a major role in winning … right? Still, the controversy has cast a bit of a pall over the final results.
In Warcraft 3 news, Moon returned to form, beating out ToD 3-1 in the grand finals winning €15,000 (around $21,000 USD). Moon killer HoT ended up taking fourth place.
Here are the final results for both games:
StarCraft
1) Hwasin
2) Calm
3) SheIs
4) LeiLei
Warcraft 3
1) Moon
2) ToD
3) Sky
4) HoT
