Some won’t care that Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii is getting a replay feature, but the news is heartening to me because it looks like console games are finally catching up to 20th century technology.
You’ll be able to save approximately three minutes of your smashing exploits in Brawl, which is better than nothing, then share it with your friends.
Replay features, such as those included in Brawl, Halo 3 and Skate further open the doors for interesting competitive coverage, machinima, and more. And before anyone jumps on me, there are competitive Smash Bros. tournaments.
I’m still astounded it took so long, though. 15 years after DOOM, most multiplayer console games still have no replay functionality, but it looks like some developers have finally gotten the hint.
