Wii Sports sweeps British videogame awards, Empire continues to decline
A sure sign that the British Empire has collapsed and England is no longer a bastion of taste and sophistication, the free title that comes with every Nintendo Wii console swept the British Academy Video Game Awards in London last night.
Wii Sports won awards for Best Casual, Best Gameplay, Best Innovation, Best Multiplayer, Best Sports, and Best Strategy/Simulation. No, it really did. I am not making this up.
Other winners:
- Academy Fellowship: Will Wright
- Best Action & Adventure: Crackdown
- Artistic Achievement: Okami
- Best Game: Bioshock
- Best Original Score: Okami
- Best Story & Character: God of War 2
- Technical Achievement: God of War 2
- Best Use of Audio: Crackdown
- Ones to Watch: Ragnarawk
- PC World Gamers Award: Football Manager 2007
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) began the yearly Video Game Awards in 1989.
