Update: $20,000 Quake 4 competition confirmed at i-32 LAN with invite list

Days after rumors began circulating, Multiplay and Intel have confirmed the existence of a $20,000 Quake 4 tournament at i-32 in Newbury, UK, Nov. 9 through 12.

The invite only format indicates that only the best players will be granted attendance. However, the prize structure is not as top-heavy as usual, and the tournament pays out to 12th place.

Additionally, the player with the most frags in the competition will receive a new computer from Intel. As there are only eight days left before the competition begins, I’m going to go ahead and predict some fairly random results. I doubt anyone’s been practicing for more than two weeks already. Regardless, Gareth “Garpy” Marshall deserves a round of applause for convincing Intel to run the competition.

Update: The top players that have asked for an invitation are: Toxjq, Falcuma, av3k, Cypher, Purri, DaHang, killsen, 2GD, GaRpY, chance and Hell. The full list of players is inside the post.
