According to research by Enterbrain Inc., Nintendo has sold over 20 million DS units in Japan. The DS, which was released on Dec. 2, 2004, sold over 6 million units, and the DS Lite, which was released March 2, 2006, sold over 13 million units.

It took 156 weeks for Nintendo to reach this point. On Nov. 16, the PS2 hit 20 million units sold in 349 weeks; this shows how fast the DS sold in Japan.

Furthermore, the top five titles that have sold the most since the release of the DS, by Nov. 25, are: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (5,337,424), New Super Mario Brothers (4,894,), Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day! (4,730,199), Animal Crossing: Wild World (4,443,340), and Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day! (3,571,030).

Four titles from this ranking are first party Nintendo titles. If you don’t know which, what rocks have you been living under?
