Epic VP Mark Rein today revealed how Unreal Tournament 3 will be utilizing Sony’s Home.
According to Rein, players will be able to meet up in a room in Sony’s online Home world, and from there be able to jump directly into a game.
Rein said:
We’re planning that you’ll be able to get a party together in Home and then file into the game from an Unreal space. Home’s pretty cool, so we’re planning to do that. …[W]hat I like about that is that you’ll be able to form without us having to build a party system. It won’t be as detailed as a real party system, but the idea is that we could all meet up in a room and go together in the game.
I’m pretty excited about this. If Sony delivers all it has said about Home, it will be a fantastic selling point for the PlayStation 3. The only thing that has me concerned is that Unreal Tournament 3 comes out in December, whereas Home doesn’t come until early 2008. If it does turn out as promised, I will definitely be looking to see if Home has any effect on competitive play.

i dont think the ps3 will have any effect on competitive play as epic has already stated by banning anyone from there forums for discussion about competitive play or comp mods for the pc version.
Well, the last line of the article says to me that Rein cares more for the ps3 competitive community than he does for the PC competitive community.
