Clanbase reviews Unreal Tournament 3

Scorp over at Clanbase has reviewed Unreal Tournament 3 with extra focus on competition worthiness. The review covers all gametypes, plus multiplayer, single player and more. It’s a recommended read, especially for players thinking about getting into the competitive side of the game. Here’s a snippet;

Deathmatch is what we are all used to, both Duel and Team Deathmatch have been well developed, the weapons seem to have been balanced however I still expect the Shock Rifle, Rocket Launcher and Flak cannon to be among the weapons of choice but surprisingly there is one noticeable weapon missing from the Unreal Tournament 3 armory, the Lightening Gun. The maps in Deathmatch have been well designed and there are fourteen maps included with the retail version of the game, including the demo maps DM-HeatRay and DM-ShangriLa, we also see the return of an old classic map from Unreal Tournament, which was also remade for Unreal Tournament 2004, the legendary DM-Deck.

    “Deathmatch is what we are all used to, both Duel and Team Deathmatch have been well developed”

    heh despite the complete lack of support… broken server commands… the need for a high end system as ut3 has no backwards scalability if you want constant frames…

    horrible duel maps.. the good maps are hurt by horrible spawns that penalize people for killing their opponents.

    also lack of epic listening to the community in developing the duel system ended up making all good duel servers no longer pure as we turn amp off and such…
