Xbox Live restricts content to silver members

Microsoft has been making good on its policy to limit the access of non-paying (Silver) members of Xbox Live. These Silver members now will not be able to download free content, such as: demos, trailers, ect., until the content has been out for a week. According to Xbox LIVE director of programming Larry Hryb: “This is going to happen more and more (Gold getting things before Silver), so you may want to think about upgrading if you want all the latest and greatest trailers, demos etc.”

Now when Silver members are browsing Xbox Live, they will now see restricted content with a red circle and slash next to it. A Gold member ship will run you $7.99 for a month, $19.99 for 3 months, or $49.99 for 13 months.

Personally, I love my Gold account. It is definitely worth the money. If you don’t have Gold account, you are not fully utilizing your Xbox 360. So much of the Xbox 360 experience revolves around online play. It is kind of shady for Microsoft to be taking away power from Silver members after they have gotten used to being able to access content whenever, but you get what you pay for.

It’s crap that they charge for Xbox Live at all. It should be a free service, designed to get you to buy the console and games.

Also, ringtones for your cell phone should be free.
