Every year, GGL invites several prominent e-Sports coverage sites to vote for the e-Sports Players of the Year. The categories cover three e-Sports games with long traditions and histories: Quake (in this case, Quake 4), Warcraft III and Counter-Strike 1.6.
Each voter (or site) selects three players from every category and assigns them a rank from 1-3. Rank 1 receives 5 points, Rank 2 receives 3 points, and Rank 3 receives 1 point. At the end of the voting process, the points are tallied and the winners are announced. You can see the 2006 winners at GGL.com in a legacy format.

War3 player of the year: Moon
There is no argument here. Moon has won the most tournaments, most top 3 finishes. Most dominant player easily.
War3 revelation: Creo
There is an argument for Lyn. He has really turned into one of the best players in war3. In a normal year someone like Lyn would win. But Creo has him topped. He started the year with no major top3 finishes and got second at ESWC, first at Blizzcon. Then on 5 (count em 5) days of practice he won WCG. If he hadn’t retired and he continued his domination he could have won player of the year.
For sure mSx have to be the reveletion of the year (he could be player of the year too :), remember WCG, Gamegune, dreamhack ….
