Valve’s Steamcloud service released

Today Valve released their new service, Steamcloud. This new service allows players to access their saved games, retrieve their control schemes, and download purchased games from anywhere in the world. All of this comes incorporated in the newest steam update. According to RPS writer, John Walker, “Your games are now available on any PC and you can play exactly where you left off, without having to invert the mouse and disassemble your friend’s lunatic configuration.”

Sounds pretty cool. I really think Valve is one of the best software developers. They are always innovating and delivering quality products.

UbiSoft announces Beyond Good & Evil 2

Yesterday at UbiSoft’s conference, Ubidays, they announced that work has begun on Beyond Good & Evil 2. While far from completion, a teaser trailer was shown showcasing two retuning characters, Jade and Pey’j. Not much else was revealed.

For those of you who don’t know, Beyond Good & Evil was an action/adventure game released on GameCube, Xbox, PS2, and PC. Despite being released on all the major platforms of the day and receiving critical acclaim from numerous sources, Beyond Good & Evil wasn’t really successful. If any of you haven’t played it, do yourself a favor and pick it up off of Steam. Its only $10.

The teaser is after the jump. Read more »

Saints Row 2 pushed back

Yesterday THQ announced that their sandbox shooter Saints Row 2 has been delayed. Pushed back until October 14, Saints Row 2 was original slated to hit shelves in August. According to THQ the delay is “due to product quality and marketing considerations”. The way I interpret it is “GTA IV did much better than we expected. Let’s hold off while GTA fever runs its course.” But that’s  just what I think.

Drop a comments letting us know what you think about this.

Army of Two gets free maps Thursday

Today EA announced that Army of Two will be getting three free maps this Thursday, May 29. The map pack, dubbed the Free Veteran Map Pack, features two new co-op maps and one 2-on-2 map. One of the co-op maps has you and a friend taking down a extremist militia in a Kiev subway station. The other has you taking down Dalton, the man who framed the game’s two heroes.

Sounds like a good piece of DLC, made even better by the price.

Guitar Hero: World Tour unoffically priced by GameStop

A few days ago I posted an article about Guitar Hero: World Tour. In said article, I mentioned everything that was in the press release, including the lack of an announced price. Well this past weekend, GameStop has priced Guitar Hero: World Tour on their website.

According to the GameStop website, the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii versions are priced at $189.99, where as the PS2 version is priced at $179.99.  That is $20 more than Rock Band. Is this too much? Are you guys planning on picking it up? leave a comment below with your thoughts.

Nexon America announces free FPS, Combat Arms

Today Nexon America, publisher of the popular MMORPG MapleStory, announced that they’ll be releasing a free online FPS named Combat Arms. Due out this summer, Combat Arms promises to offer “highly customizable” gameplay, allowing users to change everything from the looks of their characters to the guns they use. The game also has an XP system where by winning more matches means more customization options.

All in all this sounds pretty cool. Hopefully Nexon America can deliver on all that it’s promised. If so, they might be sitting on the next Counter-Strike.

More details on Guitar Hero World Tour surface

Today Neversoft sent out the official press release for Guitar Hero World Tour. Some of the cool features highlighted include: “Innovative Music Studio Lets Players Compose, Record, Edit and Share Music,” “Biggest Selection of On-Disc Music with All Master Tracks,” “Robust New Eight-Player “Battle of the Bands” Mode,” and “First Game Ever in the Guitar Hero® Franchise to Allow In-Game Downloadable Content on Wii.”

All in all it sounds pretty cool. I’m really interested to see how the music studio feature will turn out. But at this point aren’t you better off just buying a real guitar. I mean, I haven’t ever met a girl who gets turned on by Guitar Hero… yet. Also, it’s too bad there is no way I’m going to cough up another $170 after buying Rock Band. Hopefully they will find a way to either incorporate the Rock Band instruments or make the game extremely affordable.

PS3’s GH3 gets exclusive God of War track

Much like how Xbox 360 owners got a free Halo song for Guitar Hero 3, Sony announced today that on June 5 they will release a free God of War song. Unfortunately there’s no word as to what the song is, but who cares it’s free.

Now if only they added Kratos as a playable character, activate his starpower and watch a T rated game turn M.

Pre-order Fallout 3, get soundtrack

Today Bethesda announced that when you pre-order Fallout 3, you’ll be walking away with a five-song soundtrack. The songs included are:

  • “I don’t want to set the world on fire” by The Ink Spots
  • “Way back home” by Bob Crosby
  • “Butcher Pete (Part 1)” By Roy Brown
  • “Fallout 3 soundtrack - Main Title” composed by Inon Zur
  • “Fallout 3 soundtrack - Megaton” composed by Inon Zur

I can’t wait for Fallout 3 to come out. I have always touted the Fallout series as the best PC RPGs ever made. One of my fondest memories is waking up Christmas day to find a new computer and a copy of Fallout under the tree. Hopefully Bethesda’s creation can live up to the Fallout precedent.
