Championship Gaming Series Season 2: Complexity goes 0-5

L.A. Complexity vs. Chicago Chimera

Redemption was undoubtedly the theme of tonight’s first competition. The first three matches of the night featured players with less than stellar second season records looking to expand their victories. In Dead or Alive 4 (DOA4) male, Perfect Legend of Complexity went up against Black Mamba of the Chimera. After a back and forth struggle, Black Mamba managed to win by a single point, earning him his first victory of the season. The female competition followed much the same path. The Chimera’s Kasumi Chan rocked Complexity’s Belle the first few rounds until she managed to tie the game. Kasumi Chan pulled finally got on the board this season with her victory in the final round.

Complexity’s FIFA 08 player, KreeganBG, has had a tough season. While ranked highly during training he has thus far failed to live up to his reputation. Tonight faced Eafra, the standout FIFA player from Chimera. History repeated itself as KreeganBG failed to score a single goal and Eafra walked away victorious.

The Forza 2 race featured some of the most intense action of the night. Ch0mpr and GTO led the pack and changed places on several occasions complete with plenty of car-on-car action. In the end Ch0mpr pushed ahead and take first, but Complexity’s two players kept the score close by finishing in the remaining scored positions.

In a flashback to recent competitions, Complexity’s Counter-Strike team was again forced to make up for the franchise’s point deficiency. Complexity won seven points the first round playing as the counter-terrorists. Unfortunately for Complexity, the inherent counter-terrorist advantage also worked in the Chimera’s favor. Chicago dominated the second round and handedly won the overall franchise match.

Franchise DOA4 Male DOA4 Female Forza 2 FIFA 08 Counter-Strike Score Record
L.A. Complexity 4 4 3 0 8 19 0-5
Chicago Chimera 5 5 4 2 10 26 2-2

San Francisco Optx vs. Carolina Core

As with several past FIFA 08 matches, the second game of the night ended in a tie. This resulted in shoot-out where Optx player Stermy won over the Core’s Anomaly by one point. The Forza 2 match was equally close. Phantom managed to take first place rather quickly and maintained it the entire race. Meanwhile the lower places fluctuated throughout the race with Optx’s team, Miximup and Sackamonjaro, taking second and third respectively.

This motif of narrow wins followed into the DOA4 bouts. In the female match, Mystik of the Core kept a close score with the Optx’s reining champ Vanessa. It was only in the eighth round Vanessa managed to take the victory. Ironically this situation was reversed with the DOA4 male match. In it the Optx’s insurgent challenger NinjaCW narrowly defeated OffBeatNinja, the Core’s nearly unbeatable DOA4 champion from 2007.

At three points behind, a successful run in Counter-Strike would be the Core’s last chance at victory. It seems fate had other plans as the Optx dominated the Carolina team in the first round before winning the overall franchise match with a finishing blow in the second.

Franchise DOA 4 Males DOA4 Female Forza 2 FIFA 08 Counter-Strike Overall Record
San Francisco Optx
