San Francisco Optx vs. 3D.NY
The night opened on a positive note for San Francisco. Vanessa made up for her startling loss on Monday by defeating New York’s Coolsvilla, 5-3, in Dead or Alive 4 (DOA4) female. San Francisco continued this good fortune by achieving a 5-4 lead after the first half of Counter-Strike: Source (CS:S). The team did not fair as well as the counter-terrorists in the second half. Despite their best efforts New York won the CS:S match, 11-7.
San Francisco needed three points to regain the overall lead. Stermy put his franchise on the way with a goal in the first half of FIFA 08. New York’s WiZaKor responded by tying the score with his own goal in the second. Neither player scored for the rest of the game, thereby throwing the match into overtime. WiZaKor won the game, 4-2, after scoring three points during the shoot-out compared to Stermy’s one.
With only four points seperating the franchises, it was still anyone’s game going into DOA4 male. San Francisco’s NinjaCW and New York’s Cheppelle faced off in the Seaside Market stage. The players tied the game, 1-1, going into the third round. NinjaCW defeated Cheppelle in the next four rounds and won the match, 5-1.
The two franchises were tied, 19-19, with only Forza 2 remaining. The racers seemingly changed places with every lap. New York’s ComeBackDan and Dark Storm managed to smash their way into first and second respectively in time to cross the finish line. The resulting score gave New York its seventh win, 25-20. San Francisco now drops to fourth place behind Carolina.

Chicago Chimera vs. Los Angeles Complexity
The second franchise match of the night opened with FIFA 08. Both players were polar opposites in terms of their records. While Chicago’s Eafra had only lost one match so far this season, Los Angeles’s KreeganBG held a singular win. Neither player scored a goal in the first half. It was KreeganBG that finally lit up the scoreboard in the second. He followed this with another goal that led him to a 2-0 victory over Eafra.
Los Angeles wanted to keep up this momentum with a solid performance in CS:S. The west coast team dominated Chicago in the first half as the counter-terrorists (CTs), 8-1. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, Chicago did almost as well as the CTs in the second half. Nevertheless L.A. claimed the CS:S victory, 11-7. This victory for L.A. was followed by their first defeat of the night. Chicago’s Kasumi Chan soundly beat the still winless Belle on the Kyoto in Bloom, 5-1.
With two games left, Los Angeles held a two point lead, 14-12. Compared to the drawn-out battles of CS:S, the Forza 2 race’s outcome was decided rather quickly. Los Angeles’s Chavisan initially plowed ahead, only to be knocked out by Chicago’s Ch0mpr. The Chicago player would maintain first place for the rest of the match. Los Angeles’s GTO would finish second and Chicago’s other player Jason X came in third. This 5-2 victory gave Chicago an one point lead over its competition.
With the score at a close 17-16, it was up to the DOA4 male players to determine the outcome. Los Angeles would need a 5-3 victory to win outright and prevent overtime. Chicago’s Black Mamba put a large dent in this strategy with three straight wins in a row. Perfect Legend won the fourth round. However Black Mamba followed this up with two more victories, thereby winning the match and clinching the victory for Chicago, 22-17. Chicago is now tied for fourth with San Francisco while Los Angeles is dead last with eight losses in a row.
