Rock Band 2 announced and arrives September

Today Harmonix announced that they will be releasing Rock Band 2. The best part, it’s coming out for the Xbox 360 in September. That’s right folks, we are two months away from a new Rock Band. This is how companies should do release dates. Don’t announce a game until it is almost ready. But enough with my thoughts.
More details after the jump.
Rock Band 2 will support DLC from the first Rock Band. According to Lead Designer Dan Teasdale: “As far as Harmonix is concerned, there’s no difference between “Rock Band 1 DLC” and “Rock Band 2 DLC” – we’re just releasing awesome songs every week onto the Rock Band platform, all of which are playable by the Rock Band titles that support DLC.” The previous controllers from Rock Band are fully compatible with Rock Band 2, however if you are going to pick up the new instrument bundle, you will be pleasantly surprised. The new guitars are wireless and everything is being made more reliable and quieter. There will also be more depth in character creation.
Harmonix has been keeping the set list strictly hush hush, but according to Dan Teasdale:”Rock Band 2 has the strongest playlist we’ve ever assembled, and I think fans will be blown away not just at the spread, but also at the caliber of acts we’ve attracted.” I hope he is right.
