Championship Gaming Series 7-12-08: World individual competitions

The World Individual Competitions of the Championship Gaming Series took place this past Saturday. In this competition the best players from each region squared off against one another to determine, independent of their franchises, who was truly the best in their individual games.

Dead or Alive 4 (DOA4) Female

In the first match on Seaside Market, Birmingham’s SarahLou defeated Sydney’s Eileen, 5-1. Meanwhile, in the second match, San Francisco’s Vanessa beat Mexico City’s Hitomi1 by a slightly closer 5-2 margin. This outcome meant that Vanessa would face SarahLou in the final match of the DOA4 female competition. SarahLou performed extremely well and led 3-1 going into the fifth round. Vanessa, however, won the next four rounds, and closed the game with a 5-3 lead.

FIFA 08

Rio’s Patan faced Wuhan’s ZZ in the first FIFA 08 game. Patan scored two points to ZZ’s one in the first half. Patan then secured this lead with a single point in the second half. This won him the match, 3-1. Next up was a match between Berlin’s Manaya and Chicago’s Eafra. By the end of the second half, both players were tied 1-1. This lead to a shoot-out, in which Eafra won by a single point, 3-2. Eafra now had to defeat Patan to earn the individual championship title. The match was considerably more one-sided than Eafra’s game against Manaya. The North American champ won 2-0 over Patan and claimed his title.

Counter-Strike: Source

Birmingham triumphed over Sydney on de_inferno with a substantial 12-6 margin. Likewise Dallas won against Rio by an even greater lead of 13-5. This meant either Birmingham and Dallas would be the winner of the individual title. Birmingham squeaked by the first half as the terrorists with a 5-4 lead. Dallas, however, won the second round, 7-2, and as a result the title with a total score of 11-7.

Dead or Alive 4 Male

Dallas’s Master dominated Wuhan’s Kindfox in the first match of the night, winning 5-1. In the second match, Berlin’s THE_TACTICAL experienced a significant 2-5 loss to Mexico City’s El Divino Xmas on the Seaside Market stage. El Divino Xmas would now face Master for the title on the Kyoto in Bloom stage. The match had every potential to be suspenseful, but that was until Master showed everyone why he went practically undefeated this season and beat El Divino Xmas, 5-1.

Forza 2

In the first race, Carolina Core’s team of Phantom and General E Live got way ahead of the competition in the first lap. They would maintain this lead and crush Sydney with a 6-1 win. The second race took place between Berlin and Mexico City. An all-around closer affair, the outcome of the race ultimately came down between Berlin’s YggdrasiL and Mexico City’s mEtAlX. YggdrasiL managed to gain a significant lead after mEtAlX spun out, resulting in a win for Berlin. The German team would now faced Carolina in the final match of the night. YggdrasiL once again jumped into first place, and despite Carolina’s best efforts, managed to place first and win the championship.
