Last night, during their E3 press conference, Activision announced that the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero: World Tour will be compatible with Rock Band instruments. They are yet to mention if the Wii, PS2 or Ps3 version will be compatible with their respective components, but I’d bet on it. Hopefully this will be the first step in making a unified music platform.
This was a smart move by Activision. Had they not done this, I could assure you that I would have stayed loyal to the Rock Band franchise. Personally, I felt that ever since Guitar Hero: 80’s Edition the guys over at Neversoft and Activision have just been phoning it in. Now that there is some competition on the scene I hope that Guitar Hero: World Tour delivers. Thanks to this, I will now be able to rock out to two of the best songs ever, Photograph and Livin’ on a Prayer.
