Watchmen game announced, released in episodes
If you guys were like me, (and apparently most of America according to box office numbers) you went and saw The Dark Knight last weekend. One of the coolest trailers, before the movie started, was for Watchmen. Seeing this as a lucrative opportunity, Warner Bros. decided to make a game out of the upcoming movie. The thing is, games take a while to make and Watchmen comes out next year; leaving little time for developers to crank out anything but crap. That is unless they do the logical thing which is release episodic content.
According to Warner Bros.’s Samantha Ryan: “Rather than the more traditional “time is limited squeeze the puppy onto the market” route, we wanted to craft something that’s the best possible game it can be.”
For more details and my opinion, hit the jump. The Watchmen game is going to be a “brawler” starring Night Owl & Rorsach and will be distributed via Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network. Being a comic book nerd, this concerns me. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the book, it’s not your standard superhero comic. In fact it’s a mystery/social satire with little to no fighting. I hope to God that this is a good game, otherwise another one of my favorite comics would be shamed into being converted into a crappy videogame.
