WCG readies Ultimate Gamer reality show
This one definitely came out of left field for me, but has obviously been in production for quite some time. The World Cyber Games is creating a reality show to find the Ultimate Gamer, a show not unlike the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter.
Participants will compete in multiple games and their real life equivalents so that we can laugh at how badly they fail–or be pleasantly surprised at how they succeed. Here’s a trailer:
Adande “sWooZie” Thorne from CGS’ LA compLexity and Athena from PMS Clan can be spotted in the promo vid. Additionally, TeamLiquid’s Incontrol is in there.
Believe it or not, this actually looks to be promising and could raise awareness of the WCG much like The Ultimate Fighter did for UFC.
WCG Ultimate Gamer will debut in March 2009 on the Sci Fi channel.

This is a failure. Swoozie is the only hope at anything positive from this show, but sadly FAT-thena akak Athena twin totally negates anything swoozie can accomplish on that show.

meh, im the best all around gamer in the USA… ive won money and placed in major tournaments in atleast 5 different genres and their real world counter parts as well… such BS really…

Actually that’s Athena PMS aka Valkyrie FD aka Amy Brady. We actually have two other people from PMS and H2O on there. And the rest are good gaming friends, well some.
And Fail, maybe you should watch the show before you knock it. I’m not gonna give away the show, but let me tell you Athena is up there with Swoozie, so you’ll be seeing her all the way through the show ; )

A large amount of gamers that applied (believe or not a ton) came to a casting call, were interviewed, played some games.
Some of the more well known gamers were personally contacted via email to come to the casting call.
They had to wait for call backs, with further game playing, then they were later contacted. The casting call was in NY, TX, and LA and it was advertised at WCG events, Nvision LAN, and several other gaming events/websites.

I’ve got close friends that worked on the production of the show, I know the result and a lot of other insider information. This show is fail, but less fail than the CGS was :)
I’m not knocking it after just seeing the trailer, trust me.

Athena sucks, she may be surviving but hanging on a string. She’s always second to last place, honestly she shouldn’t be compared to Swoozy, period. I don’t know why she thinks she’s a pro and that has ALWAYS been her biggest problem that draws her into failure as a wannabe pro gamer. I know from personal experience with gaming with her.
Why brag so much about how great you are and all proof it with actions not words and quit making up competitions that she won, she has yet to win one, be honest it doesn’t hurt. She’s somewhat out place in the show, her personality wreaks, she looks too old to be on the show not appealing to look at and she lacks dedication. I guess they needed a token middle aged woman to appear on the show.
The past episodes she was horrible, great competitor to second to last place. Seriously she should have worked on improving her skills overall in the games they get to play but again no dedication. If she claims that she tries so hard to play, it doesn’t really look like she does. And perhaps she may appear on a few more shows but she is still not going to be winner of this, there’s too many better gamers on the show to give her that right even Calyber is better.
