Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li opens in theaters today, and received a savage beating from movie critics.
Right now, RottenTomatoes has a 00% rating for the movie, with 14 “Rotten” reviews and none in the “Fresh” category. Kristin Kruek apparently can’t carry it to glory on her own.
What’s the best thing to come out of this whole fiasco? Here’s the quote:
Chun-Li narrates much of it, and the dialogue would be excruciating if it weren’t laughable in the way she describes what is blatantly occurring on the screen. If nothing else, the movie is an ideal one for blind viewers. - Dustin Putman, TheMovieBoy.com
Yow! Save your money and put it toward a copy of Street Fighter IV. You won’t be disappointed.

Tomorrow another MMO dies. This time it’s Richard Garriot’s Tabula Rasa. Unlike some other MMO, Tabula Rasa isn’t going down without a fight.
Starting tomorrow at 8PM CST, and lasting till midnight, there will be a full on alien invasion. According to a message from the development team, “We request that all military personnel begin fortifying defenses at every AFS base in preparation for a massive Bane assault. If enemy troop movements are as large as we fear, and the Neph are truly prepared to lead all out war against us, this may be our last stand. Penumbra has been informed of the situation and is standing by on the use of their last resort weapon. We can not afford to be complacent or uncertain, but if it is truly our destiny to be destroyed, we are taking them all with us.”
I always get sad when a MMO dies. I can’t help but think of all the gamers who have spent hours and hours of their time, only to have all their winning vanish at the flick of a switch. Hopefully this last event will be something to remember.

Amped about Bioware’s upcoming Star Wars MMO The Old Republic? If so, you might want to take a few minutes to look over the new web comic by Dark Horse, detailing some of the games back story.
While the first issue may seem a little sparse, it’s important to note that Dark Horse will be putting out new issues bi-weekly.
According to the website, the first act deals with: “The Sith Empire has scored a series of solid military victories over the Republic, winning control of several critical star systems and seriously damaging the Republic’s logistical supply lines. Overwhelmed but stoic, the Jedi and the Republic Military have succeeded in defending the core worlds and have slowed the Empire’s steady advances. In a surprising turn of events, the Empire has now extended an offer of peace to the Galactic Senate. Wary but desperate, the Republic has agreed to engage in ceasefire talks. A large delegation of prominent Senate and the best and brightest of the Jedi are traveling to the planet Alderaan, where they expect to hunker down for lengthy negotiations on the terms of a treaty with a representative from the Sith Dark Council.”
Sounds interesting. I know I’ll be checking the site every couple of days for a new update.

Blizzard has updated Diablo III’s ever-growing Bestiary by adding to it a new loathsome, creepy monstrosity named ‘The Unburied’, which can be seen in action in the new screenshots. “Being born out of pits of human misery, these beings feed on human suffering. Wherever bodies are dumped together unceremoniously, the unburied may rise.”

Today word got out that Wisconsin governor Jim Doyle recently signed a bill into law that attaches a 5% sales tax on digital purchases including: music, movies, and game content. The law will go into effect Oct. 1 of this year, and is expected to generate $10.9 million between 2009 and 2011.
I can’t decide if I support this or not. On one hand, buying downloadable products is pretty much the same as buying it in a store, so it makes sense that it would be taxed. On the other hand I’m a poor gamer who buys most of my games off Steam or similar download services, and I can’t afford to spend any more money. I guess I would decide what side I’m on when I see what this new tax revenue will fund. If it’s something I feel is important, like education, I’d have to support it.
What do you guys think about this? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

Today a rumor has hit the net saying the Aliens RPG, formerly published by Sega and developed by Obsidian, is now canceled. The rumor started when ex-Obsidian designer, Daviid Kondor, posted an ad on Linkedin saying, “Designer for canceled third-person action Aliens RPG (Xbox 360, PS3, & PC).”
Pretty sad news, if it turns out to be true. It is important to note that neither Sega or Obsidian has sent out a press release confirming or denying this rumor.
Personally I think this rumor is true. The evidence for it is pretty damning. It’s a shame that this game will never be released. Just the idea of an Aliens RPG gets me amped. It must be hard for Kondor to see a project he worked on for over a year get canned. Hopefully he will find a position at a thriving studio.

Valve is currently having a sale on Team Fortress 2 due to the new Scout DLC, which hit last night. From now till Friday, Feb. 27, gamers can snag TF2 off of Steam for only $9.99.
I cannot stress how good of a deal this is. Since it’s launch, way back in Oct. of 2007, I have played TF2 at least 4 night a week. That adds up to quite a lot of hours. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up while it’s cheap. If you guys are ever looking for someone to play with, add me to your Steam friends list. My user name is Yuenanimous.
