Sony today officially announced it has cut the price of its best-selling console PlayStation 2, dropping it in the US to the mere price of $99.99, and in Europe to below €100. The price cut will come into effect in Europe and all across the US by tomorrow, April 1, excluding the UK where there will be no price reduction. That will be the first time PlayStation 2 is offered at a price point under 100 dollars or euro, indicating it has achieved a significant milestone in its lifespan. Since its launch …
Today Treyarch announced that its Call of Duty: World at War map pack has sold more than one million copies from March 19th through 22nd. That means within three days the map pack earned over $10 million.
Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch stated: “I’m proud that the team at Treyarch delivered an experience that so many people are enjoying. We’re excited that the success of Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will continue to drive the popularity of the game’s Nazi Zombie mode, competitive multiplayer and chart-breaking success online.”
Microsoft confirmed that the map pack set a new record for first-week downloads on Xbox Live Marketplace.
Today Volition revealed the first batch of DLC for Saints Row 2.
Titled “Ultor Exposed,” the DLC features a new set of missions where adult entertainment star Tera Patrick, who plays an Ultor microbiologist, teams up with the Third Street Saints to bring down the evil corporation Ultor.
Aside from the new missions the DLC brings six new vehicles, four multiplayer maps, a new Competitive Coop mode and plenty of new character customization options.
The Ultor Exposed pack hits Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store April 16 and will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10).
Volition has only announced the DLC for PS3 and Xbox 360. PC Gamers shouldn’t feel left out though; Saints Row requires Steam, which just implemented a way to distribute DLC. Hopefully down the line the DLC will find its way onto the PC.

Many of us have feared that spending a lot of time playing video games may damage our eyes, whilst in fact, not only was it far from being harmful to our eyesight, but it also provided us with an excellent training for what eye doctors call ‘contrast sensitivity’, the primary limiting factor in how well …
While the trailer doesn’t show any gameplay footage, it does build up the story a little. As expected, the titular heroes must save the universe from some unknown bad guy who seeks to exploit tame travel for his/her own gain.
What do you guys think? Does this trailer get you excited for the next chapter of Ratchet & Clank? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
This week’s Release Roundup is for all the metal heads out there. Why the bizarre dedication? Because Guitar Hero Metallica came out March 29.
For those of you who don’t know, Guitar Hero Metallica takes the formula from Guitar Hero World tour and gives it a metal makeover. As the title suggests, a large portion of the tracks are Metallica songs, however there are other bands like Samhain, Slayer, Judas Priest and Motörhead. Due the to nature of the tracks (fast and elaborate), the game is considerably harder than previous Guitar Hero titles. There is even an Expert+ difficulty level for drummers which allows the use of a second bass pedal, giving those righteous riffs a faster back beat.
