It seems like the people at Valve are just never satisfied with the games they release. They are constantly adding new features and changing the game mechanics of Team Fortress 2.
In a recent interview with Shacknews, Valve’s Robin Walker discussed some major changes heading to the cartoon shooter.
According to Walker, Valve plans on adding unlockable equipment other than weapons. In a recent patch, Valve added a 50-slot backpack to keep items in, as well as a slot for headgear.
Walker explained that the headgear slot is just a way to let players customise their appearance, for now. Walker stated, “We plan to do more than just cosmetic items, but we like to go one step at a time to be able to measure the effect of each change, both on the game and on the community. ”
Valve is hoping that it can get the new headgear out before the Sniper update, however if it’s not done by then it will just be bundled with the other DLC.

Today Ubisoft officially announced Red Steel 2. The sequel will feature full use of the new Wii MotionPlus attachment. In fact Red Steel 2 has been designed from the ground up for the Wii MotionPlus.
According to Tony Key, Ubisoft’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, “Red Steel was a unique opportunity for Ubisoft to work in tandem with Nintendo to create a title exclusively for the launch of the Wii console. Red Steel 2 is another milestone for the company as it is the first Ubisoft title with full Wii MotionPlus integration.”
Aside from the control scheme, Red steel 2 will be a very different game from its predecessor. Apparently it takes place in a “desert-bound, high-tech metropolis,” giving the game a Western feel.

It looks like Polish game publisher/developer CD Projekt has fallen on some hard times. Today it announced that its console port of The Witcher, dubbed The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, has been suspended.
According to Widescreen director Olivier Masclef, “The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf has been suspended pending the resolution of financial issues between the different project partners.” He went on to explain that CD Projekt missed “a big payment that we were supposed to receive. After having committed to the project but not being covered financially on it for three months, I [had] no choice.”
Hopefully CD Projekt will get their financial situation sorted out. I was a fan of The Witcher on PC and wholeheartedly believe that its unique blend of action and RPG elements would make it a standout title on consoles.

Along with the trailer, Capcom sent out an announcement regarding online multiplayer in DR2. According to Keiji Inafune, Capcom’s development head, “Rest assured we are going to put multiplayer in the game. I can’t go into specifics about what type of multiplayer as that directly relates to some of the game systems that we don’t want to talk about at this event. It will be online multiplayer.”
Dead Rising 2 is currently being developed for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. As of right now there is no solid release date, however Capcom has stated that it will be out before the fiscal year ends, March 31, 2010.
