Bioshock Take-Two games officially announced a sequel to last year’s hit BioShock, slated for a Q3 2009 release.

The publisher has stated its intent to produce a new BioShock game every two years.

The game will be developed at the 2K Marin studio, founded by a group of expatriate developers from the first game.

Comments from the Objectivist community were not available at press time.

Nazi DSJust more evidence that you can’t trust blogs. Except this one.
The gaming blogosphere is full of controversy surrounding a purported Holocaust game for the Nintendo DS. Certain people are up in arms that anyone would consider trivializing the deaths of six million Jews and five million others in Nazi death camps.
Except, of course, that’s not what the game is. Titled Imagination is the Only Escape, it’s an educational game designed to teach young children facts about the Holocaust. The game’s developer, Luc Bernard, says he has gone to great […]

Dreamcast WARNINGFor the last couple of days, a certain major videogaming blog that shall remain nameless has been sending gamers to a Dreamcast 10th anniversary site. Unfortunately the site has been outed as a phishing scam — the site’s anonymous operators collecting visitors personal information for nefarious purposes.

We can thank Joystiq for the warning — they uncovered the fact that Sega no longer owns the URL in question.

Sega says they are considering “appropriate measures.”

Last week, we asked GGL members what games they want to see at the Digital Games in Shanghai this summer. The response was overwhelming, so I decided to check out the suggested games and see which ones the GGL community really wants.

As of last Friday, with 336 comments, the winner by a slender margin was Call of Duty 4, which just eked past StarCraft to take the top spot.

Quake 3/4, Warcraft III and Counter-Strike 1.6 rounded out the top five suggestions.

Bully screenshot
Remember six months ago, when Rockstar released Bully, its comedic and mildly violent horrors-of-high-school simulator? Remember how some people were upset, believing the game would somehow glorify or promote bullying in school? You know, as if playing a video game could completely change a person’s personality?

Yeah, neither do I.

But the Canadian Teachers Federation, which bizarrely includes teachers in the United States, Britain, South Korea, Australia and the Caribbean, wants you to remember. They’re calling for retailers to refuse to sell the Bully: Scholarship Edition, a rerelease of the game with additional content.

The Tubes are abuzz with speculation, over a series of alleged patent applications made by Nintendo that extend the functionality of the Wii Remote. The question is, what do these diagrams really represent?

I think I can make a few guesses.

Golf
This looks like a golf club — or a Jai Alai paddle. Or badminton. Or maybe something for Sepak Takraw. Or curling? Or perhaps it’s a spatula for the next Cooking Mama.

A pair of teens has been charged in the death of 17-year-old Miami resident James Felton-Maitland, who was hit by a truck and killed when the two teens allegedly tried to steal his PlayStation Portable.

Jamila “Jam” Brown, 19, and Keith Lebrone Goa, 17, have been charged with second-degree felony murder and strong-arm robbery. Although the death was accidental, it is considered murder because it happened during the commission of a felony.

Brain Age creator Ryuta Kawashima turned down almost $22 million (¥2.4 billion) in royalties from the hit Nintendo DS title based on his best-selling book.

Dr. Kawashima is a respected Japanese neuroscientist, and the author of Train Your Brain: 60 Days to a Better Brain. The game is based upon the book, and features Kawashima as a character.
Not a single yen has gone in my pocket. Everyone in my family is mad at me but I tell them that if they want money, go out and earn it.
In fact, Kawashima has directed some of the royalty money (¥700 million) […]

Well, it’s only 336 shopping days until Christmas. And every year I get started too late on my Worst Games of the Year list. So this time, I’m not procrastinating – in fact I’m getting the earliest possible start.

Here, in no particular order other than alphabetical, are my Ten Worst Games for 2008. Please note that I haven’t played a single one, what with them not having been released and all. I know hardly anything about some of them. But they’re all real games slated for a 2008 release. And they SUCK.
