I’m Rick, I love gaming and the GGL. I started out playing Doom 1 & 2, Duke Nukem, and Wolfenstein, when I was 13. I played those for a couple of years until one day when I was 15, my mother brought me home 2 games, Tomb Raider Gold & Starcraft. I decided to play Tomb Raider first because of the kewl art work, and I quickly noticed that the game was a piece of shit after 20 minutes into it. I then popped in the Starcraft game, and 8 years later I’m still here playing and loving it. I was in the first Starcraft ladder that GGL had back in 2003, and I won the regular season event, but gave up in the playoffs when I found out that someone was paid off by the best Starcraft player in USA at the time to play him, which is an auto win, and then he would eventually win the Alien Ware computer, which was being offered for the first prize in the playoffs. I stopped competing competitively in pc gaming in January of 2004, and used my skills to better the GGL by running the Starcraft events that they hold. As for where I’ve been for gaming, I’ve flown to a bunch of places in the past couple of years, and some of them include: San Francisco, New York, Atlantic City, Singapore, Los Angeles, & Las Vegas. I’ll also be flying to many places again this year including Las Vegas, New York a couple more times, & Seattle. That’s not counting the places I’ve drove to. Who do I love? I love hard workers, people who devote their time to what they do, which are also the same people who don’t get as much love for it as they should, and these are some of those people: Don K., Jack V., John C, me, Ragnar B., Liquid`Meat & Liquid`Nazgul. To end this in a good note, I will let you know what the GGL means to me, and why you should play in it’s events. The GGL has shown me that with the right people running it, anything is possible in gaming, and that they are the #1 gaming league in the world, not just because they have the hottest women at each of their events, not because they have the worlds best admins running everything, and not because the company is ran by rich men that know what they’re doing and have a lot of background in this sort of business, but because the GGL is what every gamer out there is really looking for when they play in events, which are fun memories, the best competition around, newest computers to play on, and strippers, a lot of strippers. During the month of October, the top StarCraft players from North America played in a 16-man, best of three tournament using a double elimination format.
The total even run time was about 8 hours, and went into the morning for some. After a tough battle, we saw Idra coming in first, Skew coming in second, Dino in third, Xiaozi in fourth, and Iefnaij taking fifth place.
Many people did not think that Idra had a chance in the finals against his former clan member, since Terran vs. […]
