The latest issue of GamePro has news about Microsoft closing a deal to acquire Gears of War developer Epic Games; allegedly, the deal could cost as much as as $1 billion dollars.

Hold on, let me get my giant mound of salt. Okay.

If this turns out to be true, Microsoft would own the much hyped and Epic-developed Unreal Engine 3, used in the already mentioned Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3.

Right now, this is just a rumor due to many reasons, obviously, and the price is only one of them. […]

Daniel “LiiLD.C” Claesson said to the PGS website: “I started some conversations with PGS even when I was in 4K. They offered me a very good contract which I had a hard time refusing…PGS was the logical choice for me.”

Along with the signing of these […]

An intrepid hacker by the alias drkIIRaziel got Sega’s Naomi BIOS running on a Dreamcast emulator. For those of you who don’t know the Dreamcast is the parent system of the Naomi board.

While the BIOS crack is a big deal, you can’t run your favorite games yet. A lot more needs to happen behind the scenes before games are actually up and running–a BIOS alone does not make a system.

Still, you can always hope to play such Dreamcast classics as Ikaruga, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Ferrari F355 Challenge on your computer in the future.

Here’s a video of drkIIRaziel […]

Kotaku Australia (this exists?) reports that EA’s Australian branch informed them that the upcoming, cartoon-styled shooter, Battlefield Heroes will be exclusive to the US and Europe.

Considering the game is downloadable, so far it’s unclear how EA will control this.

But they’ll certainly find a way. While EA was unable to explain the reasons behind such a decision, the common guess is that it wants to try the free-to-play system in a more closed environment and […]
