After a long and grueling competition, G2_Wolf has come out on top of GGL’s Virtual Racing Season, beating NFSxMaster in the finals.

Neither player is a slouch in the game, and NFSxMaster made G2_Wolf earn his 2-1 win.

Thanks to his efforts, G2_Wolf wins a trip to the 2009 Daytona 500! Meanwhile, NFSxMaster wins a trip to one of the 2009 Sprint Cup events. The same goes for the third through tenth place finishers.

VRS heads to round of eight

GGL’s Virtual Racing Season has whittled down its competitors to the elite eight phase, with most of the big names remaining in the field. At the end, there can be only one, but for now, here are our remaining matchups:

#1 eMJay0910 vs. #5 Zsta2k5

eMJay has lived up to his #1 seed in making it this far, while zsta has also 3-0′d all of his opponents to reach this point. I’m calling it a toss up…we’ll see.

#5 XIG Big j632 vs. #4 G2_Wolf

I’ll put $100 on G2_Wolf. Any takers?

#30 T3mpr1x vs. #11 Polas

Polas already advanced to the final four after winning this match, so, I’ll predict a win for him! Way to get it done early, though…

#23 KiFireLedius vs #15 willy456

The multigaming master has advanced to face…who is willy456? Is he a dark horse contender or a pretender? We’ll find out on this edition of…As the VRS Turns!

VRS final bracket hits sweet sixteen phase

The final bracket of GGL’s Virtual Racing season, sponsored by Bosch, has entered its sweet sixteen phase.

Much of the first round consisted of byes, and the second round weeded out some of the playing field.

Note: Trackmania Nations Forever is the game for this bracket, but some players progressed from brackets that used different games. That means the TMNF players are at a huge advantage in these matchups. Here’s the list:

#1 eMjay0910 vs. #16 Racefan

eMjay got here though the Forza 2 ladder, while Racefan took a more traditional TMNF-based route. The smart money would be on Racefan, but eMjay already knocked off #33 franklinsoto to get to this point. This could be anyone’s race to win.

#9 DigitalShot vs. #8 Zsta2k5

Zsta2k5 is a talented multigamer who has competed in many titles, while DigitalShot made his way through the TMNF ladders to get to this stage. Once again, we have a potentially close match that I can’t call.

GGL Warhawk champion SuperCharged interviewed!

I recently had a chance to sit down with SuperCharged, AKA Steven Juste, the leader of Warhawk team ARMED^ASSASSINS. AA won the recent GGL Warhawk competition and the special Champion’s Blade melee weapon courtesy of Sony.

Juste spoke about his experiences in the tournament and shared some details about his team. Let’s have at it!

Name: Steven Juste
Age: 21
Location: Columbia, Maryland

GGL: AA has a roster of 50 people. How did you manage the team to your Warhawk victory?

Steven Juste: Our roster was easy to get–I simply showed my friend a picture of the prize and they jumped on the wagon. And these guys are people that I have been playing with since warhawk launched. I was skeptical at first but because it was easy to create a team on GGL, I stepped up and here we are now. Read more »
