Due to the intricacies of ladder play, dmZfederal (41-18, 5730, 1L) has dethroned Paladyn as the points leader on the Digital Games European Warcraft III: TFT ladder.
Although dmZfederal doesn’t have more wins than Paladyn, who has a 47-6 record, he does have more total games played. Since players get points for playing a match regardless of winning, it’s possible to rise to the top of the heap despite a worse record.
Activity is king in ladder play, and speaking of which, there’s some more interesting news from a game that hasn’t been too active until lately.
While the number of matches in the 2008 Digital Games continues to ratchet up, higher than average activity is beginning to show on the North American NHL 08 360 ladder. Read more »
It’s often difficult to get match replays due to the speed of ladder play, so sometimes it’s best to just have a quick list breaking down the leaders of the prominent Digital Games ladders.

I just got a chance to speak with European PC FIFA ladder leader dragua, who I had never encountered before. Not being a huge FIFA aficionado (comes with the territory of being a fat, ignorant American), I was curious to know his history and motivations in the Digital Games tournament. Without further ado, here’s the interview!
GGL: Please state your real name, age, and occupation.
My name is Artem Dragunov. I am 22. I am from Latvia. I study in the Riga Technical University on the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunations and I work in an insurance company as a database-support operator.
GGL: What attracted you to play in the Digital Games tournament?
I decided to take part in the Digital Games, because it was quite interesting for me to represent my country among the FIFA-players from all over the world in a competition, which is a part of the Olympic Games in China.
GGL: Why FIFA? Are you a huge futbol fan, did you grow up playing it?
Yes, you are right. I like football very much. I was playing football at the professional level for 5 years. Unfortunatelly, I had to give up football because of the intensive studies, but I always play football with my friends in my free time, so it is an essential part of my life. And FIFA is almost the only game I play. Read more »
The last few days of Digital Games ladder play has been marked by some turnover on the South American Call of Duty 4 ladder, with Ready to Kill Clan taking over the top spot from O MAR ABRIU VEI! and Canibais. This is all despite the fact that R2KC hold a losing record–it just goes to show that activity pays off in ladder play, wins and losses aside.
On the European Command & Conquer 3 ladder, Technique has extended his win streak in first place, while knolz and spug3t bring up 2nd and 3rd, respectively. KiFireLedius still holds the lead on the North American C&C3 ladder.
Also, this is becoming old hat by now, but Paladyn continues to decimate the competition on the European Warcraft III scene. He now holds a 43-5 record, with no apparent intention to stop anytime soon. Ditto for North American Trackmania Nations Forever leader G2_Wolf, who stands at 8-0.
Last, but certainly not least, European FIFA stalwart dragua is clinging to a narrow points lead over icantplaygood; this drama will certainly play out in the weeks to come.
Registration is still open for the DG ladders. Sign up to represent your country against some of the best competitors in the world, across thirteen different titles.
Heated competition continues on the Digital Games ladders, but the leaders are beginning to solidify their positions on some games and regions.
Paladyn has a stranglehold on the on the European Warcraft III front, as usual, with a 39-5 record and 4940 points. He’s 780 points ahead of Russian dmZfederal, and 940 ahead of iesbly4eg. FuRY[SWE], however, is climbing with a 25-5 record and 6W streak. He’s currently in 4th place.
In 6th, another star is rising. His name is PGS.LiiLD.C, and if you’re a follower of the WC3 scene, you know he’s a force to be reckoned with…
Meanwhile, on the Trackmania Nations Forever North American ladder, G2_Wolf has held onto his undefeated record. He did not, in fact, get to play Iceman yesterday. Wolf expressed some disappointment as he’d rather “get 40 points for racing and losing instead of 60 for a forfeit win.” This hardened competitor will be looking forward to the challenges posed by CoryEarly and wilameta. This morning I had a chance to catch up with current North American Trackmania Nations Forever leader G2_Wolf about his TMNF exploits, as well as some gaming history. Luckily for me, I ambushed him just before he was about to head into a game of Project Powder.
Real name: Dakota Watterson
Age: 16
Occupation: Student
GGL: So I see you’ve played a bunch of games competitively; what motivated you to join the Digital Games for Trackmania Nations Forever?
G2_Wolf: Actually, I was bored and looking for some competition in Trackmania :S. I haven’t been playing competitively in many games lately.
GGL: Why specifically Trackmania?
G2_Wolf: Well, why not Trackmania? I had tons of fun playing in TMN and have tons of fun playing in TMNF. (And because I’m good at it, unlike with my Warsow attempt).
GGL: Is there anything in particular that attracted you to TMN/TMNF in terms of features of the game?
G2_Wolf: It’s unique with jumps and wallrides and loops and all kinds of other crazy stuff, and it’s a fast game that takes a lot of skill for most tracks. And with no collision detection, no griefers :). Read more »
Players and teams are warming up to the ladder format for the Digital Games, and several previously-inactive ladders are beginning to show signs of life.
In Counter-Strike 1.6, French team ONE4ALL sports a 1-1 record and 1115 points on the European ladder, while UK’s neP hold second, and Portugal’s mK! has a handle on third.
The Call of Duty 4 South American ladder is Brazilian-dominated, and O MAR ABRIU VEI ! has tied Canibais for first place with 1200 points and a 2-0 record. This motion bumped Ready to Kill Clan down into third.
KiFireLedius, meanwhile, has taken over the Command and Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath ladder with wins over CoDster and JuDgEpowr, but a loss to KhuFu_OwNz. Khufu is now inactive, possibly due to being demoralized after flaming GGL’s ladder system over the course of several days. The European Kane’s Wrath ladder is actually faring a little better, as flying Dutchman Technique sports a 2-1 record and 1240 points, but a 1L streak. Can knolz take advantage? We’ll find out in the coming days. Read more »

Ladder play continues in GGL’s Digital Games, with a number of standout players and teams coming to the forefront to represent their countries and gaming communities.
The most rabid players reside on the Warcraft III European ladder, where Paladyn continues to feast on players who are challenging his first place spot. Paladyn now holds a 34-5 record, 4440 points and a 3W streak.
dmZfederal (22-10, 3600, 2L) and iesbly4eg (24-4, 3480, 3W) are holding it down in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
On the North American StarCraft front, Artosis has held onto his first place spot, although he does have a 2L streak. This could be problematic because, if memory serves correctly, there are no newbies on this ladder. We’ll continue to keep an eye on Artosis as the ladders go on.
In European StarCraft news, LoWeLy leads the ladder with a 5-2 record, 1580 points and an unfortunate 1L streak. Read more »
The story of the Digital Games competition so far has to be Przemek “Paladyn” Wadoń, who continues to dominate the Warcraft III Europe ladder.
While other players struggle to reach second place, Paladyn is feasting on those below him. His most recent victories come over DreamS.SalaN., tp|uSports-Xekc and tp_uSports-aVa. He also recently lost to dmZ-TWiN; this is only one of three losses for Paladyn.
The victories should come as no surprise to those in the know; Paladyn is a highly regarded pro player in the European Warcraft III scene. Will anyone step up to the challenge to stop him?
Only time will tell.
Registration continues for the Digital Games program, with thirteen game titles available for play. There is also a chance to attend the Digital Games Grand Final as part of the Our Olympic Organizing Committee’s welcome events hosted by the China Governmen.

The battle of the RTS gamers continues in the 2008 Digital Games, with Przemek “Paladyn” Wadoń taking over first place in the European Warcraft III ladder.
Paladyn sports a 22-2 record, with a 10 game winning streak and 3200 points. Second place NaviGraF is mobbing around with a 15-14 record, 2930 points, and a 1W streak. Third place iesbly4eg is zooming up behind with a 16-3 record , 7W streak and 2720 points.
The RTS ladders promise to be among the most active in the DG program, so stay tuned for more updates about them as we get further into the competition. For now, congrats to Paladyn for leading the ladder!
Ladder play for the Digital Games runs until July 27, and registration is open for the duration of the ladders. Register to begin your journey in the Digital Games.
The first couple of days of the 2008 Digital Games ladders are complete, and RTS gamers are leading the charge. While activity has been slow on many of the titles requiring more coordination, Digital Games RTS titles are unique in that finding a server is not necessary (or alternatively, servers like Blizzard’s Battle.net and EA’s online service are always up).
Additionally, matches can be completed in a relatively short amount of time. This ease of use is borne out in the number of matches played in Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne and StarCraft.
Currently, the Russian NaviGraF sits atop the European WC3 ladder with a 13-12 record, 2560 points, and a 1 game winning streak. His time on the top may be short lived, as the well-known Polish player Paladyn is in 2nd place with a 13-2 record and 2380 points.DreamS.SalaN (2020, 9-4, 3W) has a tenuous grip on 3rd place.
Right behind him is 4th place tp_uSports-aVa (1960, 8-5, 1L). The top 20 spots on the ladder are dominated by Russian and Ukrainian players. We’ll find out if any of the other European region countries represent themselves this well as time goes on.
Additionally, we’re seeing moderate activity on the StarCraft and Command & Conquer 3 ladders.
North American StarCraft stalwart Artosis is leading his region with a 4-1 record, including wins over Machine[Media], TeamLiquid (the entire TeamLiquid community? haha), GoShox, and goodbody. Keep up the great work!
We’re only two days into ladder play, and registration is open for the duration of the ladders. Ladder play ends June 27, so there’s still plenty of time to particpate. You will need to be a GGL member to participate in this competition. Register to begin.
