EA announces Uprising expansion for Red Alert 3
EA announced today that an expansion to Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is in development. The expansion, titled Uprising, will only be available on the PC and will be released though digital distribution. EA also stated that it will be a stand-alone expansion, meaning you don’t have to own Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 to play it.
What new features can you expect from Uprising? Well aside from the typical new units, Uprising will come packaged with four mini-campaigns, three for the existing factions and one that details the origins of Yuriko, the commando for the Empire of the Rising Sun. A new game mode titled “Commander’s Challenge” will also be included in Uprising. This game mode lets you duke it out against nine commanders from different territories. Each commander has different difficulty level, their own rule and conditions for victory. In total there will be 50 challenges. You can also expect to see more live-action cinematics featuring many of the same actors from Red Alert 3.
Amer Ajami, EA Los Angeles’s senior producer stated, “Uprising is a game that in many ways reflects the feedback we have gotten from the Command & Conquer community.” He went on to say:”We’re giving gamers more of what they want - more of the fast, fluid and fun gameplay, more of the story we began to tell in Red Alert 3 and more cutscenes featuring top-notch Hollywood talent. At the same time, we’re excited we’re going to be able to bring new things to the mix, including new units and the Commander’s Challenge, which is a great way for players to hone their skills and get deeper into the combat.”
