A little while ago, I made a post about the upcoming FPS Aliens: Colonial Marines. Today we some gameplay details were released for this upcoming phallic-shaped-cranium title.

First off, the game wont be constricted to the familiar claustrophobic hallways of the movies. There will be outdoor sections of the game. The game will offer a variety of mission objectives. Instead of just progressing through levels, some missions will force you to set up turrets and barricade doors in an effort to make a stand. Also the game will feature quick-time events, ala God of War. Lastly, and most importantly, there will be realistic (well at least to the Aliens universe) acid blood. It will not only hurt you but will melt through the environment.

All in all I’m super excited about this game. Hopefully it will turn out well…

A few days ago I posted a news item about Aliens: Colonial Marines, promising more details when available. Sega and Gearbox have let some details loose.

Aliens: Colonial Marines will be available on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 sometime this year. Focusing on squad based combat, you will take on the role of a space marine and battle hordes of our favorite xenomorphs.

The story is penned by Bradley Thompson and David Weddle, of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine & Battlestar Galactica. Featuring classic Aliens weapons like flamethrowers and smart guns, you and up to three of your friends can play cooperatively and try to survive against these perfect killing machines.

The press release is after the jump: Continued…

Next month’s issue of Game Informer will detail Gearbox’s new Aliens game.

The newly dubbed Aliens: Colonial Marines has little else known about it. As someone who grew up loving Aliens and who has a subscription to GI, I’ll be sure to write up all the info when I get my copy.
