The time has come boys and girls. Strap on your power armor, huff some Jet and get ready to wait outside your local videogames retailer. Today Bethesda Softworks announced that Fallout 3 will be hitting North American stores on Oct 28. Europe will get their dose three days later on Halloween.

If you haven’t been following it; “Fallout 3 features one of the most realized game worlds ever created. Set more than 200 years following a nuclear war, you can create any kind of character you want and explore the open wastes of Washington, D.C. however you choose. Every minute is a fight for survival as you encounter Super Mutants, Ghouls, Raiders, and other dangers of the Wasteland.”

Skip the first half of this Fallout 3 trailer from Bethesda, but be sure to watch the last half’s combat. Sure, it’s not your father’s Fallout, but unlike war, games do change.

If you guys are anything like me, you love the Fallout series. There is just something about the post-apocalyptic genre that is so captivating. Well, in order to prepare for Fallout 3, Bethesda is hosting a two day film festival that features strictly post-apocalyptic movies. If you are in Santa Monica, California Aug 22 or 23, check it out. The movies being shown are, Wizards, Damnation Alley, A Boy and His Dog, The Last Man On Earth, The Omega Man, and Twelve Monkeys. All of these are worth watching.

Tickets will be sold via Fandango.com. They will be available July 25 and will cost you $10. The best part is, there will be a special Fallout 3 giveaway.

Today Bethesda announced that when you pre-order Fallout 3, you’ll be walking away with a five-song soundtrack. The songs included are:

  • “I don’t want to set the world on fire” by The Ink Spots
  • “Way back home” by Bob Crosby
  • “Butcher Pete (Part 1)” By Roy Brown
  • “Fallout 3 soundtrack - Main Title” composed by Inon Zur
  • “Fallout 3 soundtrack - Megaton” composed by Inon Zur

I can’t wait for Fallout 3 to come out. I have always touted the Fallout series as the best PC RPGs ever made. One of my fondest memories is waking up Christmas day to find a new computer and a copy of Fallout under the tree. Hopefully Bethesda’s creation can live up to the Fallout precedent.

Today, GameStop released details about Fallout 3’s Collector’s Edition. For $79.99 on console and $69.99 on PC, the Collector’s Edition comes with not only a Vault Boy bobble head, but a hardcover Fallout 3 Art book, a Making of DVD, and the game. All of this will come packaged in a “fully customized” metal lunch box.

This sounds like everything I’ve ever wanted. As a die hard Fallout fan, you can be sure that I’ll be picking this up.

Fallout 3 has 200 endings?

Destructoid is all agog because Fallout 3 is going to have 200 or more possible endings.

This is certainly interesting, but D-toid’s only concern here is, will it be worth it to try to play all 200?

First off, I’m suspicious that those 200 are actually all variants of a handful of real endings. “I reached the final level with the blue armor, and got the cut scene with the guy in the mustache. Now I’m going back for the red armor and the guy with the pompadour.” Continued…

Those of you who haven’t played The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion or the Shivering Isles expansion are missing out, but here’s your chance to get in on the action. Shivering Isles will be available as a standalone 360 disc in October for you luddites out there who have no Internet connection and didn’t get it off Xbox LIVE.

In Shivering Isles, you invade the realm of Sheogorath, Daedric Prince of Madness, and try to put a stop to the insanity. “Madness,” you say? This is Spar — er, sorry.

Shivering Isles includes the Knights of the Nine expansion. At $30, it’s a better deal than the download version due to the addition of Knights.
