Today PC gamers are able to download Mass Effect’s DLC, “Bring Down the Sky”, for free.

What exactly is “Bring Down the Sky?” According to Wikipedia: “‘Bring Down the Sky’ includes a new uncharted world that introduces the notorious and feared Batarians, a humanoid species with four eyes. A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Only Commander Shepard can save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid completes its deadly descent. This mission is concurrent with the main storyline. BioWare has stated that the adventure should take 90 minutes to complete. The expansion also features an additional achievement awarded upon completion of the mission.”

In order to download it, just boot up Mass Effect. There will be instructions on the launch menu. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, you can just snag both “Bring Down the Sky” and Mass Effect 1.01 from here.

Today, Bioware announced that when you pre-order the PC version of Mass Effect from the EA Store, you will get both the first issue of the Dead Space comic book and a Dead Space poster. Sounds pretty good, epically to a comic book nerd like myself.

I must say, this is quite a strange marketing ploy, but seeing as I plan on picking both up, this deal suits me just fine.

Today it was announced that the PC port of Mass Effect will not be shipped with the expansion, Bring Down The Sky, included on the disk. However, it will be available for download in North America on May 28 and June 6 in Europe, the same day the game is released. The best part is, it’s free.

Sometimes it’s good to be a PC gamer.

Today Bioware announced that the PC port of Mass Effect will be delayed. Originally slated for May 6, Mass Effect will now be arriving in North America on May 28 and in Europe on June 6.

Why the delay? According to Bioware, the delay will allow developers to “incorporate more play-testing feedback, add extra polish and tune the additional features so that Mass Effect is a natural and outstanding PC gaming experience.” Continued…

Those of you who are big fans of Mass Effect will be delighted to know that downloadable content for the game is now available.

Mass Effect: Bring Down the Sky features the all-new Batarian race and (allegedly) adds 90 minutes of gameplay.

At 400 Microsoft points ($5), the 253mb download is a relative bargain as long as you get all 90 minutes out of it.

There are a few problems with Microsoft’s PC-based version of Xbox Live. For one thing, it costs money – PC gamers didn’t have to deal with that issue until now. Second, you need Windows Vista to use it – and very few people are willing to install Vista, which has a variety of problems.

If you were ever on the fence about the Xbox 360’s mega-epic role-playing game Mass Effect, then now is the time to hop off that thing. According to the British Board of Film Classification’s rating of the game, there will be some hot lesbian love your character will encounter. Check please!

Here are the juicy details courtesy of CVG:

“The game has been classified at ‘12′ for moderate violence and one sex scene,” reads the BBFC rating. “The sex scene is triggered by the player making a series of choices about becoming more than friends with a colleague. If playing as a male character the scene can take place between him and a human woman or a humanoid female alien.

“If playing as a female character the scene can take place between her and a male human or a female humanoid alien.” Let’s hope it’s not with a Krogan, the Pat Butchers of the stars.

Nothing smells more like success than two hot chicks gettin’ it on!

I’m really looking forward to Mass Effect, so I was pleased to see this new footage of the game showing off character creation, some of the storyline, and combat from BioWare’s upcoming title.

The framerate has massively improved since the last time we saw it, and the character creation is realistic, unlike some other RPGs we’ve seen in the past few years (*cough*Oblivion). Check it out. Continued…
