The setting isn’t the only new feature, COD5 will be the first in the series to allow co-op. Multiplayer is said to feature vehicles and squad based combat. Hopefully it won’t just be a Battlefield clone.COD5 is being developed for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii.

A little while ago, I posted a news item about a major Call of Duty 4 patch on Xbox 360. Today is the day PlayStation 3 owners can get up to date.

Publishers released fewer “M for Mature” games in 2007; but the M-rated games that were released generated more money than in previous years.
From ShackNews:
An examination of data provided by the sales tracking firm NPD reveals that the number of released titles stamped with an M for Mature rating fell 14% in 2007 versus the previous year. Revenue from those sales, meanwhile, jumped from $800 million in 2006 to $1.4 billion in 2007. Continued…
Last week, we asked GGL members what games they want to see at the Digital Games in Shanghai this summer. The response was overwhelming, so I decided to check out the suggested games and see which ones the GGL community really wants.
As of last Friday, with 336 comments, the winner by a slender margin was Call of Duty 4, which just eked past StarCraft to take the top spot.
Quake 3/4, Warcraft III and Counter-Strike 1.6 rounded out the top five suggestions. Continued…

Personal choice and civil liberties for gamers took another bashing as China’s Ministry of Culture published details of ten games it deems “suitable” for minors.
In an effort to “purify the ‘on-line environment,” ten games have been selected by the ministry’s on-line games censorship committee, that are deemed healthy and can “enhance intelligence.” The games are all domestic products so you won’t see the likes of World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike or Call of Duty on the list.
Instead they are made up of five role playing games, four recreational/chess games and one educational game.
This isn’t the first time though - in 2005 People’s Daily Online published an article relating to the Culture Minister’s 15 clean online games. Another list was collated again in January 2006. Continued…
For those of you haven’t heard, a student at Frosburg State University, was arrested for making threats over Xbox LIVE during a game of Call of Duty 4. This may sound ridiculous to most of us, but to be fair, the threats did involve shooting people at his school.
Today it was revealed that the student, Allieu Shaw, will receive two counts of disrupting a school operation, a misdemeanor charge. If convicted, Shaw could serve up to a year in prison or pay a $5,000 fine.
I hope this serves as an example for the gamers on Xbox LIVE to clean up their acts and think twice when talking trash in their next game of Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3.
