This is just a reminder that the demo of Haze, previously announced as out “early May,” will be hitting the PlayStation Network tomorrow, May 8. The demo features 4 player, drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer, as well as part of the standard single-player campaign. I don’t know about you guys, but I think it’s worth a download.
Today Ubisoft released a patch for the Xbox 360 version Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Most of the changes only affect multiplayer. A similar patch for PS3 and PC are in the work and will be out shortly. The list of changes goes:
- Swapping to & from Pistols are now faster in Multiplayer.
- Optimized sound bank to improve weapon firing and helicopter sound clips that loop over and over.
- Servers now update their pings more often so that players have a more accurate value of server performance.
- Spawn Shield is shorter when respawning with the Leader.
- When there are more people on a team than the other, there is an overall XP modifier applied to all XP gained during the game.
- By pressing the start button, players now have access to the outfitting menu in observer mode.
- Respawning in Team Deathmatch now work like regular Deathmatch (random points throughout the map) which intensifies gameplay and minimizes spawn camping/trapping.
- Faster respawns for Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. You no longer have to wait a full 10 seconds!
- Players who enter a room using custom search then exit will be brought back to an automatic search with the same criteria.
For the rest of the changes hit the jump. Continued…
Today it was announced that Haze, the PS3 exclusive FPS, will be arriving in stores May 20. A demo will be available in “early May,” and will feature 4 player, drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer, as well as part of the standard single-player campaign.
Sounds like a pretty sweet demo. Hopefully the game has been improving after all the delays.

Today it was announced that the legendary shooter Ikaruga will hit Xbox Live arcade this Wednesday, April 9. Featuring improved HD graphics, replay saving, leaderboards and online co-op, I’d say that it’s worth the 800 Microsoft points ($10).
If you are unfamiliar with Ikaruga, I must warn you it is impossibly hard. If you don’t believe me feel free to check out videos of it on Youtube.

It’s no April fool. A demo of Army of Two hits Xbox LIVE Marketplace April 1. The demo includes both the training level as well as the first level of the game.
Once the demo is out, other downloadable content will begin to arrive. In the first pack, there will be one new multiplayer map, two new campaign maps and a SSC Challenge obstacle course. There is no official word on the release date or price of the DLC.
I can’t wait for this demo; I’ve been on the fence about picking up Army of Two and hopefully it’ll let me know what’s up.
We’ve just released Up All Night: Army of Two featuring Janina Gavankar. Up All Night is a reality tv-style review show that shows real-time reactions of gamers as they go through the game. This time around, we reviewed EA Games’ Army of Two, a new third person shooter that centers on co-op.
In this review we ask three pivotal questions:
1) Is this game worth your money?
2) How does it compare to others in the genre?
3) Does Robert Summa suck at videogames?
The entire team worked very hard at getting this review out, so check it and leave us some feedback.
Check it out at upallnight.ggl.com!
djWheat has been conserving his energy for this episode! We discuss coop games and Army of Two! What was the hosts first Coop game? A caller calls in via Skype on his PSP, and it doesn’t sound like crap. Summa wants to be a pig! We discuss the Digital Games in 2008! What education does djWheat have? A few days ago I posted a news item about Aliens: Colonial Marines, promising more details when available. Sega and Gearbox have let some details loose.
Aliens: Colonial Marines will be available on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 sometime this year. Focusing on squad based combat, you will take on the role of a space marine and battle hordes of our favorite xenomorphs.
The story is penned by Bradley Thompson and David Weddle, of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine & Battlestar Galactica. Featuring classic Aliens weapons like flamethrowers and smart guns, you and up to three of your friends can play cooperatively and try to survive against these perfect killing machines.

At GDC it was announced that Fable 2 will feature some pretty interesting game innovations, provided Peter Molyneux can deliver.
First off, the game will feature co-op play, in the style of Crackdown. If you join someone else’s game, any items or experience your character gets will stay with your character.
Another cool feature is that players won’t get money from quests. The only way to get money in the Fable world will be by doing work or gambling. This is why the folks over at Lionhead will release a Xbox Live Arcade game that will contain a few gambling mini games. No word on the cost (if any) of the XBLA game. Any cash you get from these will transfer over to your character.
These features may seem a little gimmicky, but hey, they got me interested…now it’s time to, you know, actually make sure they end up in the final product.
Today at GDC, during the Microsoft keynote, Gears of War 2 was announced. Little is know about the title other than it will be an Xbox 360 exclusive and it will be out in November.
No details on the storyline or co-op modes have been released, but it would be a travesty if Epic and Microsoft proceeded without them. The only thing I hope they add would be more multiplayer modes. Either way, shooter fans everywhere can rejoice that Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago will be back. I know I’m excited.
Expect another post as soon as new information is released.

A few days ago I posted a news item announcing Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 with the promise that I would get some more details for you guys. Today, I make good on that promise.
The story line of Red Alert 3 involves those damn Soviets playing around with time travel. While being horribly irresponsible, the Soviets inadvertently create a third super power, called The Empire of the Rising Sun (you get three guesses as to who this is). Red Alert 3 will take place during World War III, where the Allies, the Soviets, and the Empire are all at each other’s throats.
Sporting a co-op campaign mode, Red Alert 3 will make an appearance not only on the PC, but on the Xbox 360 and PlayStion 3 as well.
If you just can’t wait to get your hands on this game, EA is offering a Beta test version if you pick up a copy of C&C3: Kane’s Wrath, the up coming expansion to C&C3. Unfortunately the beta is PC only, so console gamers have to wait. Good thing I’m a RTS purist and only play them on my PC.
When there’s no gaming news, there are gaming rumors. When in Rome, do as the Romans do: Let the rumors start flying.
Is Apple dipping further into the gaming industry?
Recently Apple has extended its trademark to include “hand-held units for playing video games”, and “stand alone video game machines.”
Microsoft has big news for Japan?
It’s no secret that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 isn’t all that popular in Japan. So it should come as no surprise that Microsoft is coyly teasing an announcement next week in the land of the rising sun.
Left 4 Dead shambles on to PS3?
Gamers across the nation are eagerly anticipating Turtle Rock Studio’s co-op zombie shooter Left 4 Dead. Word on the street is that in addition to being on PC and Xbox 360, the game will be coming out on PlayStation 3.
As usual, feel free to drop a comment on which rumors you think are true…now adjourn your asses.
