Today, Epic released a Bonus Pack for Unreal Tournament 3. Arriving on PlayStation 3 and PC, the free map pack brings back two classics and one new creation. The classics are of “Morbias” and “Facing Worlds”, from the original Unreal Tournament. The new map, designed specifically for Capture the Flag, is “Searchlight.”
There has been no word about these maps coming to the Xbox 360 version. I suspect that it has something to do with Microsoft wanting to charge for them; however, that is just speculation.
To get these maps, PlayStation 3 users can pull it off the PlayStation Network. PC gamers can head over to the Unreal Tournament 3 site and download them there.

Rock Band Music is now available in stores! The new Street Fighter movie fails like the rest of them! Epileptic Gaming nights went off without a hitch, were you there? We read a special letter from fan 2inches and his girlfirend Val! Is next-gen old gen, Epic working on Unreal Engine 4 for the next generation consoles!
Today at GDC, during the Microsoft keynote, Gears of War 2 was announced. Little is know about the title other than it will be an Xbox 360 exclusive and it will be out in November.
No details on the storyline or co-op modes have been released, but it would be a travesty if Epic and Microsoft proceeded without them. The only thing I hope they add would be more multiplayer modes. Either way, shooter fans everywhere can rejoice that Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago will be back. I know I’m excited.
Expect another post as soon as new information is released.

Epic head honcho Mark Rein announced via the Unreal Tournament 3 forums that the anticipated next step for the series will have a beta demo available for PC users as early as this week. From the post:
Folks,
Just wanted to give you a heads’ up that we’re getting pretty close to releasing the Unreal Tournament 3 Beta Demo for Windows. The Beta Demo will allow instant action play against bots as well as online multiplayer. The purpose of the Beta Demo is to test the game on a large variety of hardware configurations and get gameplay feedback from the community. The development team feels they’re pretty close to being ready to release this so it could come out this week but for safety sake I’d say it should be out within two weeks.
We have a few fan sites in tomorrow to play the full game and I’m sure they’ll be sharing their comments pretty soon afterward.

Since the PlayStation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 has been delayed, your only chance to get your UT fix this fall will be on the PC. Take a look at the system specs that were just released for it:
Minimum System Requirements
* Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
* 2.0+ GHZ Single Core Processor
* 512 Mbytes of System RAM
* NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card
* 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
Recommended System Requirements
* 2.4+ GHZ Dual Core Processor
* 1 GBytes of System RAM
* NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ Video Card
* 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
Bad news PlayStation 3 fans: Midway has confirmed today that Unreal Tournament 3 for the PlayStation 3 would be delayed for release until the first quarter of 2008. Sadly, if you wanted to play the console version of the latest Unreal, looks like you’ll have to wait until next year. Boooo!

Speculation in the online game space is the most dangerous thing this side of wall hackers and no game is safe from its evil grasp. Such is the case in the latest little bit of controversy surrounding Unreal Tournament 3 and remarks made by Epic VP Mark Rein when speaking on Epic’s forums about when the game is specifically coming out — all we knew is that it was coming out in November.

While our own Carmac gave his thoughts on Unreal Tournament 3 vs Team Fortress 2, GGL’s ClanBase took a look at just what exactly this anticipated next step in the UT franchise has to offer. Take a gander at the main piece or the highlights after the jump.

At Games Convention 2007 in Leipzig, two very anticipated titles were shown. Team Fortress 2 and Unreal Tournament 3 - which of those titles will be the future of esports? I have played both games but only loved one. And it was not UT3.
The following piece cannot be the ultimate judgment of UT3 - I did not get as much playtime as I would have wished, I played with and against random people. Despite this, the following will hopefully give you a decent impression of what to expect of the game, at least as far as competition goes.
The main difference between Unreal Tournament 3 and Team Fortress 2 is that UT3 seems like it was designed to be fun for people with no talent and TF2 was designed to be fun. (I will write about TF2 later, in the interim go watch our preview.) Epic’s flagship for UT3 is Warfare, a mode similar to Onslaught. Continued…
