SK Gaming has won the Swedish Extreme Masters II qualifier for Counter-Strike 1.6 to regain supremacy at home for the first time in long months. They did this by demolishing Fnatic on de_nuke 16:5 (25:5). This result looks like it could be the beginning of a new, fascinating rivalry.
For a team only about a month old, the new SK Gaming lineup is doing very well. They finished second (behind Fnatic) at the Extreme Masters II invitational tournament in Los Angeles and won the Kode5 qualifier in Holland one week after that. June “Lyn” Park lived up to the role of the favorite in the Extreme Masters LA tournament and defeated JaeWook “Lucifer” Noh in the final. By doing so, he became the first Orc player to win a major international title this year.

Fnatic got back to their winning ways at the Extreme Masters invitational in Los Angeles. By beating SK, they put themselves right on the pedestal of competitive CS.
Fnatic looked like champions from the first match on. They moved from round to round without any problems. By doing so, they showed that they are most likely the best team on earth. Their final against SK Gaming was so one-sided that their celebration after the last round could hardly be called ecstatic.
With a new team, SK Gaming was not able to get a better result than second place. A mix of players from the early 2007 SK Gaming and Ninjas in Pyjamas did well to get to the final. Such a good start wins them the time to work on solidifying the good shape without the pressure of their fans’ expectations. Continued…

Many eyes will be turned this weekend to the E4All videogames show in Los Angeles, where ESL is making its debut on American soil with the Extreme Mastrers II invitational. The world’s best teams are coming to compete for CS 1.6 and a quality lineup of players will also be present to play Warcraft 3.
Ten teams, including PGS Gaming, Fnatic, SK Gaming and Meet Your Makers have been invited to participate in the event. The same number of players was invited to play Warcraft 3 with players like Lucifer, Lyn, FoCuS and Susiria. Continued…
