Child in prison costumePolice in Florida blame a rash of videogame thefts on the young victims’ friends.

[Lauderhill police Lt. Mike Cochran] said the crooks are often kids who come over to play the games with their friends.

“They’ll either come back and break into your home or they’ll leave a door unlocked and come back into your home, and then the games disappear,” said Cochran.

Police encourage parents to know all of the children who come in and out of the house. Find out where they live and who their parents are. Before a group of children leaves the home, check and make sure every item is accounted for. Finally, check to make sure every door and window of the home is locked after they come over. Yes, pro-censorship lawyer and media personality Jack Thompson, a self-described fundamentalist Christian, is in danger of being reprimanded for distributing gay porn.

GamePolitics.com has been covering Wacky Jacky’s recent legal troubles, involving charges of professional misconduct filed by the Florida Bar Association. As reported previously, Thompson is counter-suing both the Bar and the judge in his own case.

That judge, Adalberto Jordan, is now pissed because Thompson attached unredacted images from gay porn sites in an electronically-filed motion. Continued…

I’m not saying Jack Thompson is crazy. That would be libelous. I’m saying he *acts* like a crazy person. Draw your own conclusions.Embattled videogame censorship advocate Jack Thompson is accusing Rockstar game of threatening his life in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV.

Thompson sent a copy of a letter to Take Two’s Strauss Zelnick to a Florida federal court:

I have this morning read with interest an article on page 80 and 81 of the September 2007 issue of Game Informer magazine which was generated when, according to its author, Rockstar Games “stopped by the Game Informer offices for an impromptu hour-long gameplay session with the Xbox 360 version of the game.”

The showcasing play of the game to Game Informer revealed that the first killing mission of the “hero” of the game, Niko, is to kill a certain lawyer. When Niko comes into this lawyer’s office, having used subterfuge to do so, Niko pulls a gun on the lawyer who says, “that the firm supports the second amendment and that ‘Guns don’t kill people. Video games do.’” Continued…

Hello, Clarice.Gamers like to speculate on the mental stability of censorship advocate Jack Thompson; not necessarily because he believes videogames turn otherwise God-fearing young Christians into maniacal black-trenchcoated murderers, but because of his other inexplicable behavior. He tried to “out” Janet Reno, and accused her of “assault” when she touched his shoulder; sued a radio station for $200,000 just for mentioning his name; sued videogame makers for creating a “defective” product because Thompson didn’t like the content (the suit was thrown out); tried to get the police to arrest the Penny Arcade guys because they made a charitable donation in his name; declared his own bar association “unconstitutional”; and even tried to insert himself in the Anna Nicole Smith case.

Maybe that’s why the Florida Supreme Court ordered him to undergo a mental examination. Continued…
